? Good News, Bad News For Bitmain

Hats off to the lucky ones, the crypto investors who bought <abbr title=”

Crypto <abbr title="

Mining is the process of repeatedly aggregating transactions, constructing a block and trying difference nonces until a nonce is found that satisfies the proof of work condition. If a miner gets lucky and produces a valid block, they are granted a certain number of coins as a reward as well as all of the transaction fees in the block, and all miners start trying to create a new block containing the hash of the newly generated block as their parent.

“>mining equipment manufacturer Bitmain has published an official blog post outlining the company’s decision to name a new CEO and what it plans to do with its initial public offering (IPO) application with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), which has recently expired. While Bitmain says the IPO listing process made the company “more transparent and standardized,” applying a second time could raise more questions about Bitmain’s future.

In November 2018, ETHNews covered Bitmain’s chief executive restructuring when Nishant Sharma, the company’s international marketing manager, reported that co-founder and co-CEO Jihan Wu would reposition and continue on with the company as a director. More recently, in January, the South China Morning Post reported that two unnamed sources believed both Wu and cofounder and co-CEO Micree Zhan would be replaced with Haichao Wang, Bitmain’s director of product engineering.

? Top Cap and Delta Cap: New Metrics for Spotting Bitcoin Price Trend Reversals

Believe it or not, there are more ways to anticipate the future market value of bitcoin than through practicing technical analysis or by observing network activity developments.

While valuable in their own right, thanks to researchers Willy Woo and David Puell, several new experimental bitcoin valuation metrics were released in February that combine the two fields to create a more holistic view of bitcoin’s market.

Sample sizes are small in the cryptocurrency markets, with the oldest, bitcoin, having existed just 10 years, but two of the newly released metrics termed “Top Cap” and Delta Cap” have shown to be effective at identifying the tops and bottoms of bitcoin’s wild market cycles thus far.

Delta Cap
Proposed by Puell, the metric that successfully caught both bear market bottoms in 2011 and 2015, and that is known as the Delta Cap, is calculated as follows:

Delta cap = Realized cap – Average cap

Average cap =  “cumulative sum of daily market cap values / age of the market in days.”
Realized cap = “UTXOs are aggregated and assigned a price based on the BTCUSD market price at the time when said UTXOs last moved”

? Why Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey Are Warming to Blockchain

“Left to their own devices, computer scientists would recreate the Soviet Union.”

That line belongs to Preston McAfee, an economist whose job history includes senior positions at tech giants such as Microsoft, Google and Yahoo. As he explained to an audience at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, recently, it refers to software engineers’ tendency to favor centralization as the most efficient design principle for any computing system.

The point, he said, is that decentralized networks, such as those based on blockchain models, can often enable more positive overall social outcomes despite the relative inefficiency of their command-and-control architecture. It’s useful to contemplate this idea, and McAfee’s colorful metaphor, in relation to the current state of play on the Internet.

? TechCrunch Founder’s Crypto Fund Tops $100 Million, Completes First Acquisition

One of Arrington XRP Capital’s largest limited partners (LPs) has injected a fresh $30 million into the digital asset firm, according to its founder Michael Arrington.

“The reason is, like everyone, we didn’t do particularly great last year, but we did better than the market. And that was a win,” Arrington told CoinDesk. With the additional investment, Arrington says the fund has now surpassed its initial target of raising $100 million.

First announced at Consensus: Invest 2017, the TechCrunch founder has never disclosed his eponymous fund’s LPs (other than to indicate that Ripple is not one of them).

? Stellar Patched an Inflation Bug and Burned the Resulting 2.25 Billion XLM: Research

Cryptocurrency intelligence company Messari has claimed that Stellar (XLM) suffered an inflation bug in April 2017 that was exploited to create 2.25 billion XLM (worth about $10 million at the time), which were later burned. The news was revealed in a Messari report published on March 27.

Per the report, the illicitly created XLM — which was equivalent to nearly a quarter of the circulating supply — was moved o exchanges and likely sold during the first half of 2017. An equivalent quantity of XLM was purportedly burned to preserve the intended supply and avoid the dilution of the value of the tokens.

The research also notes that the involved addresses and related records are no longer accessible on Stellar Expert or other block explorers but can be found using the Horizon Application Programming Interface. Also, the company claims that seemingly no media reported on the bug, its exploitation and the consequent burn before Messari.

? Lending Your Crypto: Risks And Rewards Of Virtual Asset-Based Finance

Hats off to the lucky ones, the crypto investors who bought <abbr title="

A type of cryptocurrency in which encryption techniques are used to regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds, operating independently of a central bank. This term may also be used to reference either the network, protocol, or actual cryptocurrency.

“>bitcoin before market prices began to slide in January 2018. Many did nicely, converted some of their holdings to <abbr title="

Government approved currency (dollars, euros, etc.) that isn’t backed by a physical commodity (gold or another commodity).

“>fiat, and retained a sizable pile as a long-term bet.

Now what? How about earning an attractive interest rate on a small portion of those holdings by converting it into fiat and lending it out on a short-term basis to crypto holders who are underwater? Sure, there’d be taxes to pay on what is technically a securities <abbr title="

A transaction is a particular action that takes place on the blockchain. In a currency, the dominant transaction type is sending currency units or tokens to someone else; in other systems actions like registering domain names, making and fulfilling trade offers and activating contracts are also valid transaction types.

“>transaction. But what if the interest received is lucrative enough to put that concern aside?

There are a number of crypto lending sites that stand ready to help. Most of those we reviewed charge borrowers interest in the 12-to-22 percent range. The implication is that the borrower is better off with them than a credit card cash advance, which could cost 25 percent or more on an annualized basis. The pitch may also appeal to an individual lender who disdains short-term crypto trading and believes their digital assets will pay off over a long-term investment horizon.

? Singapore Blockchain Accelerator Nets BMW and Intel Among New Partners

Singapore government-backed blockchain accelerator Tribe has gained BMW and Intel as two major strategic partners, local English-language technology news outlet Tech In Asia reported on March 22.

Tribe, which began operations late last year, is the brainchild of Tri5 Ventures, a venture capital firm aiming to support later-stage startups.

Existing partners of the scheme include PwC and South Korean blockchain network Icon Foundation.

? R3 Co-Founder Jesse Edwards Is Leaving the Enterprise Blockchain Firm

Jesse Edwards, one of the co-founders of R3, has left the enterprise blockchain company, CoinDesk has learned.

Edwards, a former Sandler O’Neill investment banker, helped found R3 back in 2014 with CEO David Rutter and ex–Standard Chartered executive Todd McDonald.

In a statement provided by R3 to CoinDesk, Edwards said:

“It’s true that my work here is done and it is time to move on. This has been one of the best experiences of my professional career, and I am incredibly privileged to have worked alongside such a talented and passionate team in building this business. R3 has broken away as the market leader and standout partner of choice for professionals looking to apply this technology to their industries. I couldn’t be prouder.”

? The Crypto ‘Trichotomy’

The crypto space ain’t what it used to be.

In the good old days when bitcoin was the only “cryptocurrency” around, life was much simpler. Then, a few other “currencies” came along, followed by ICOs and things rapidly got much more complex.

Somewhere along the line, folks started paying as much or more attention to the technology underlying bitcoin as to bitcoin itself. Distributed ledger technology (DLT) or the “blockchain” suddenly became household words (well, with slight exaggeration…).

In the roaring months of 2017, crypto pundits, analysts and funds developed various taxonomies of the rapidly diversifying crypto space: exchange tokens, utility tokens, payment tokens, asset-backed tokens, etc. (My personal favorite was Tetras Capital’s, but there were many.)

? @Bitcoin Account Accuses Twitter of Shadow Banning to Restrict Its Reach

On March 23, the Twitter handle @Bitcoin became mired in controversy after BTC supporters complained about the account and attempted to get the profile shut down. The operator of the Bitcoin Twitter profile has also accused the social media platform of manipulating matters by placing restrictions on the account and limiting its overall traffic.

The owner of the Twitter handle @Bitcoin believes the account is being restricted for being critical toward the Bitcoin Core (BTC) network and the Lightning Network (LN). Over the last few weeks, several BTC supporters have advocated having the account suspended or reassigned to a group of core developers.

? Switzerland To Adapt Existing Legislation For Crypto Regulation

Switzerland’s Federal Assembly, the federal legislature of the Swiss parliament, approved a motion on March 20 instructing the Swiss Federal Council, which serves as the country’s collective executive head of government, to begin adjusting existing legislation to apply to <abbr title="

A digital store of monetary value the primary use of which is for buying and selling goods, services, or property, such as Ether or bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies are cryptographically secured against counterfeit and often are not issued or controlled by any centralized authority.

“>cryptocurrency regulation. According to the press release, the Federal Council will now be responsible for “adapt[ing] the provisions on procedural instruments of the judicial and administrative authorities so that they can also be applied to cryptocurrencies.”

Introduced by assemblyman Giovanni Merlini, the approved motion is meant to help the Swiss government “close gaps in protection against abuse” of cryptocurrencies, which Merlini says favors “extortion and money laundering.” Specifically, Merlini hopes that, by adapting the existing laws, a clarification will be made regarding cryptocurrency trading platforms and whether they should be subject to regulation by the Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), Switzerland’s financial regulator.

? Vitalik Buterin: High Ethereum Price Good for Security, Ecosystem Development

Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin says that high ether prices are important both for network security and the wider ecosystem’s development. Buterin made his remarks during an interview for Laura Shin’s crypto-focused “Unchained,” hosted at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and live-streamed on March 20.

In response to Shin’s question as to whether protocol designers and project leaders should be focusing on the question of a cryptocurrency’s price, Buterin referred to the “earlier rhetoric” of the Ethereum project, which had explicitly downplayed the importance of the asset’s value:

“In part, it was counter-signaling to distinguish ourselves [Ethereum] from other crypto projects that do pumping and lambo-ing way too much. But it was also about minimizing legal risk by basically trying to make the project seem more distant from something that would be covered by financial regulation.”

? Bitmain Set to Deploy $80 Million Worth of Bitcoin Miners, Sources Say

Bitmain is planning to deploy 200,000 units of its own mining equipment in China to take advantage of cheap hydroelectric power this summer.

The equipment is conservatively estimated to cost $80 million, but it may be more profitable right now for Bitmain to mine crypto itself than try to sell all this inventory.

The move signals a broader shift in the market, with miners preparing to invest again following last year’s contraction in capacity.

? Prediction Startup Numerai Raises $11 Million in ICO

American prediction market startup and hedge fund Numerai (NMR) has raised $11 million in an initial coin offering (ICO) to launch its project Erasure, Numerai tweeted on March 21.

Introduced in late 2016, Numeraire network provides a blockchain and cryptographic token-based ecosystem for incentivizing anonymous data scientists to create predictive models. Based on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, Numeraire tokens are used in trading market predictions on the startup’s platform.

Numerai founder Richard Craib said that the funds from the recent ICO will be mostly spent on hiring engineers for Erasure, the decentralized unit of Numerai’s marketplace, Coindesk reports.

? Craig ‘Satoshi’ Wright Claims to Have Filed 666 Blockchain Patents

The race to file blockchain patents has accelerated lately with one specific firm, Nchain Holdings, attempting to capture hundreds of distributed ledger-related patents. According to reports, self-proclaimed Satoshi – Craig Wright – and his Nchain business claim to have filed 666 patent applications to date, capturing a gigantic portfolio of intellectual property.

The notorious Craig Wright, a man who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto, is continuing his effort to obtain hundreds of cryptocurrency and blockchain-related patents. Wright is the chief scientist of Nchain but is best known for his attempts to prove he created Bitcoin over a decade ago.

? Indian Exchange Launches Lending Program for 5 Cryptocurrencies

An Indian crypto exchange has launched a program that allows its users to earn interest on their cryptocurrencies held at the exchange. Initially, users can lend BTC, USDT, BNB, XRP, and ETH. The CEO of the exchange has shared details about this new offering with news.Bitcoin.com.

The CEO explained that his exchange has an internal settlement and liquidation mechanism for margin trading which does not have “a dedicated funding wallet,” elaborating:

“Funds are then lent to the users only when the margin trade is open, with no withdrawal access and hard liquidation with 7.5% maintenance margin.”

? Facebook Seeks Counsel to Forge Blockchain Partnerships for New Products

Facebook’s blockchain recruitment drive continues, as the social network looks to hire a lead commercial counsel for its initiatives with the technology.

A new job posting at the company’s career page says the position will be responsible for “drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts related our blockchain initiatives, including partnerships needed to launch new products and expand such products internationally.”

? Payment Service Square is Hiring Crypto Engineers, Offers Salaries in Bitcoin

United States-based payment platform Square is hiring cryptocurrency engineers and is offering to pay them in digital currency, according to a tweet published by Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey on March 20.

In the tweet, Dorsey announces that “Square is hiring 3–4 crypto engineers and one designer to work full-time on open source contributions to the Bitcoin/crypto ecosystem. Work from anywhere, report directly to me, and we can even pay you in Bitcoin!”

Dorsey further commented that the decision to pay employees in digital currency is based on the intention “to make the broader crypto ecosystem better,” thus contributing to the Bitcoin (BTC) community.

? Welcome to Athens: Tezos Completes ‘Historic’ First Blockchain Vote

The multimillion-dollar blockchain Tezos has officially concluded its first round of voting for two competing system-wide upgrade proposals.

Having raised a record fundraising amount of $232 million in an initial coin offering (ICO) in 2017, the Tezos blockchain officially launched last September. It was valued at over $1 billion at the time and presently sits at roughly $360 million in market capitalization, according to CoinMarketCap.

Not without its fair share of internal governance conflicts, today marks the official close of the first round of voting on the Tezos blockchain. The two proposals dubbed ‘Athens A’ and ‘Athens B’ are the first of its kind to undergo Tezos’ protocol amendment procedures, designed to roll out system-wide upgrades otherwise known as hard forks in an entirely automated and self-governing fashion.

? Redditors Call Out Reported Scam on Blockchain-Based Prediction Platform Augur

At least one scammer is reportedly gaming other users on the blockchain-powered event betting platform Augur by creating deliberately invalid markets, according to a Reddit thread published on March 20.

Created by the non-profit Forecast Foundation, Augur is an Ethereum (ETH) mainnet-based predictions platform, which launched in July 2018. The platform allows users to stake tokens to bet on predictions of the outcome of a given event.

The reported scam entails a bad actor creating a predictions market that contains subtle contradictions or inconsistencies in its wording, which will ultimately lead to the market being declared invalid, and all staked funds thus being distributed evenly between betters.

David Gerard, author of the crypto- and blockchain-skeptic book, “Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain,” has tweeted his sardonic response to news of the alleged scam, writing:

“Augur users shocked, shocked to discover that statements in words may have exploitable ambiguities when computerised, and that this opens their system to SCAMMERS!”

? Major Cryptocurrencies See Slight Gains, Palladium Hits $1,600 for The First Time

Tuesday, March 19 — cryptocurrency markets are mostly trading in the green zone, with Bitcoin (BTC) hovering above the $4,000 mark.

Market visualization from Coin360

? Cryptopia Crypto Exchange Resumes Trading on 40 Crypto Pairs

New Zealand-based cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia has resumed trading on 40 trade pairs, according to a tweet from the firm on March 18.

In the tweet, the company announces that it has “resumed trading on 40 trade pairs that we have quantified as secure. We will continue to expand this list as we clear more coins.” The update follows the exchange’s recent announcement of the plans to reopen trading on its platform by the end of March, following a $16 million hack in mid-January.
In January, Cryptopia suspended services after detecting a major hack that reportedly “resulted in significant losses.” The platform had initially informed the public it was undergoing unscheduled maintenance, issuing several updates before officially disclosing the breach.Almost 90 percent of cryptocurrency exchanges’ reported trade volumes may be incorrect, new research from trading analytics platform The Tie warned in a digest released on March 18.

Reporting on figures gathered from 97 exchanges, researchers found that the vast majority of the volume claimed to come from users may not in fact exist.

The revelations came as a result of calculations of lesser-known exchanges versus well-known businesses such as Binance and Kraken.

? IBM Signs 6 Banks to Issue Stablecoins and Use Stellar’s XLM Cryptocurrency

IBM is taking its banking clients a step closer to cryptocurrency.

Announced Monday, six international banks have signed letters of intent to issue stablecoins, or tokens backed by fiat currency, on World Wire, an IBM payment network that uses the Stellar public blockchain. The network promises to let regulated institutions move value across borders – remittances or foreign exchange – more quickly and cheaply than the legacy correspondent banking system.

So far three of the banks have been identified – Philippines-based RCBC, Brazil’s Banco Bradesco, and Bank Busan of South Korea – the rest, which are soon to be named, will offer digital versions of euros and Indonesian rupiah, “pending regulatory approvals and other reviews,” IBM said.

? $25 Million in 2 Weeks: BlockFi Booms as Bitcoin, Ether Investors Seek Interest

BlockFi’s interest-yielding deposit accounts, launched in beta in January and fully live this month, have attracted more than $35 million in crypto. Most of it is being lent to institutional borrowers.

BlockFi’s terms of service give the company significant leeway over how it uses depositors’ funds and what interest rate it can pay them. This flexibility is needed for the company to grow fast, CEO Zac Prince says.
Institutional investors borrow crypto at individualized terms, at interest rates from 4 to 12 percent, and BlockFi can call in the loans at any time.

When crypto prices move dramatically, BlockFi manages risks by making borrowers put up more collateral or selling some of it.

BlockFi is planning to roll out new products every six months and raise more capital.

? IBM Unfurls Cross-Border Payment Network

On Monday, March 18, technology giant IBM announced that its new cross-border payments network, intended to clear and settle foreign exchange transactions in seconds instead of days or weeks, is widely available.

The pilot phase of the new payment network, dubbed World Wire, was first announced in July 2018. World Wire, which went into limited production on Monday, is built on the Stellar protocol and conducts transactions using Stellar Lumens and the US dollar-pegged Stronghold stablecoin. The network currently boasts payment locations in 72 different countries and can conduct transactions in 47 <abbr title="

Let’s see if the UP that we have currently on the BTC will help us to really break the resistance line.

? Blockchain Startup Bison Trails Receives $5.25 Mln Investment Backed by Galaxy Digital

New blockchain startup Bison Trails has received an investment of $5.25 million in a seed round backed by Mike Novogratz’s crypto merchant bank Galaxy Digital. The firm announced the fundraising in a Medium post on March 15.

newLed by two early stage venture capital firms Initialized Capital and Accomplice, the series seed round was also backed by both Galaxy Digital and blockchain-focused asset management firm Distributed Global. Other investors included Notation Capital, Homebrew and Charge Ventures.

Bison Trails’ blockchain infrastructure is designed to offer a way to launch secure, available and geographically distributed nodes on a participatory blockchain network, the press release notes. The Bison Trails platform enables a number of blockchain tools including staking, validating, voting, transacting and securing blockchain protocols.

? Citi Has Scrapped Its Plan for a JPM Coin-Like Bank-Backed Cryptocurrency

In light of the splash JPMorgan made recently with its plan for a bank-backed cryptocurrency, it’s worth remembering another big institution first tested a token to connect global payments – back in 2015.

Codenamed “Citicoin,” the project out of Citigroup’s innovation lab in Dublin was never formally announced by the bank, even as a proof of concept. The idea was to streamline global payment processes. As such, there are obvious parallels with the much-vaunted JPM Coin.

However, having taken stock of the experiment (not to mention the scorn of the bitcoin community at that time) Citi concluded that, while the technology has the potential to live up to its promises, there were other more effective and efficient ways of making improvements in payments.

? Largest Swiss Online Retailer Digitec Galaxus Now Accepts Cryptocurrencies

Leading Swiss online retailer Digitec Galaxus has announced that it will now accept cryptocurrencies, according to a press release published on March 19.

Per the announcement, the shop is now accepting Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin SV (BSV), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC), Tron (TRX), NEO (NEO) and OmiseGO (OMG) for purchases worth over CHF 200 (about $200). The release further claims that the shop hosts around 2.7 million products, ranging from wheat beer to gaming PCs.

The new payment method was reportedly jointly developed as part of a pilot project with Swiss payment processor Datatrans and in collaboration with Danish crypto payments startup Coinify. The system opens 15-minute-time windows for customers, during which the crypto exchange rate doesn’t change in order to make the payment with a fee of 1.5 percent.

Here is the current chart :

Nothing really new on the STEEM. We are staying really next than our support/resistance level in blue on the chart and the market is waiting for a Break Out to know the future direction for the STEEM. It is a similar pattern on all other cryptos but also on the master, the BTC. Let’s see which direction we will take in the coming days but at least, we had really a change of trend these last weeks but for sure we will have also some new corrections in a near future.

Scripsio Update – 18 March, 2019

Greetings Scripsios,

We enjoy providing updates on how we’re improving the site. And, other than tech challenges here and there, usually we’re able to focus on tweaking to improve the site. While we have some nice improvements to share, we’ve faced some challenges recently.

This week we’ve seen a rash of attacks on user accounts. After quite a bit of chasing our tails, we think we have it figured out. Let us know if you get an email regarding failed login attempts unrelated to your activity.

Remember, you can post regular streaming content on Scripsio at any time. It’s simply a social site, complete with groups, chat and social streaming. You can also make blog entries, which can go to Steem as well. Come check it out. Learn more, including about our vote sharing, on Scripsio’s About page.

Post Scheduling

As you likely know, you can already schedule a blog entry to post at a later time. This is especially helpful if you plan on posting a series that you’ve already authored and want them to go out in regular intervals.

But now we can offer another scheduling perk. You can schedule any post to your own stream. There are limitations. For example, you can schedule a post to a group and those tagged will not be notified. We’ll try to fix that in the future, but for now the option is there for those who find it useful.

Expanded Markdown Usage

You can now use Markdown in your profiles. This will be a nice way to add some depth and a more dynamic look to your user profile.

Various Formatting Improvements

There are a lot of things that get worked on just to make the site look better and perform in ways that aren’t readily apparent, but improve user experience. Some of these recently included:

  • Header blends better with page
  • Font improvements
  • Post category more intuitive
  • Image layout

Other Fixes

There are a lot of other little fixes we’ve made along the way. Some you might notice. Others make us happy because we know it’s a passive way to improve the Scripsio experience. Let us know if you pick up on one of them. We’d be very interested to find out if anyone notices. 🙂

Speaking of “noticing”, if you haven’t noticed, LiberlandPress started posting from Scripsio recently. Come check them out!

Thanks for following. Thanks for using Scripsio. Check it out. It’s not just another social site. It’s a place where what you write is yours, so write what you write

? Bitcoin’s Price and Network Activity: One is Outpacing the Other

Bitcoin’s user growth, as represented by active addresses, has spiked in the last eight weeks leaving the price far behind, a move that contradicts the popular belief the two tend to move in tandem.

The 30 day average of active addresses on bitcoin’s blockchain, or the number of accounts that made cryptocurrency transactions at any point during the last 24 hours, total 664,064 as of March 16– up 17 percent from 569,812 seen on Jan. 20. Bitcoin’s 30 day average price, however, has increased just 1 percent during the same time span, according to Coinmetrics.

Active Addresses vs. BTC/USD

Transaction Volume vs. BTC/USD

? When Bakkt? Bitcoin Futures Market’s Approval Appears Stuck in Limbo

Bakkt was first announced in early August as a bitcoin trading and custody platform, but its launch has been repeatedly delayed

It has submitted a proposal to the CFTC, asking for an exemption which would allow it to custody the bitcoin it uses to settle its futures contracts. While CFTC Commissioners were reportedly given the proposal in December, it now appears to be back before CFTC staffers.

It is unclear if or when the proposal may be published for a mandatory 30-day public review period.

Until the review period has ended – and CFTC Commissioners have voted to approve Bakkt’s exemption – the exchange cannot launch its one-day physically-settled futures contract.

? Coinbase Pro Increases Fees, Updates Market Structure ‘to Increase Liquidity’

Major United States-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced a new market structure for its professional trading platform, Coinbase Pro, in a blog post published on March 15.

Per the announcement, the changes aim to increase liquidity, enhance price discovery and ensure smoother price movements. The changes include a new fee structure, reportedly designed to increase liquidity, updated order maximums, new order increment sizes, the turning off of stop market orders and added market order protection points.

According to the post, Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime — the firm’s institutional trading platform — will cease their support for stop market orders. The announcement further explains that all stop orders must now be submitted as limit orders and include a limit price.

? How Ethereum Applications Earn A+ Security Ratings

More than 1.2 million ethereum applications have used a little-known security tool to help them avoid the costly errors arising from self-executing lines of code known as smart contracts.

Launched by ethereum technology startup Amberdata back in October, the free tool is available for anyone in the general public to interpret the security of active applications on the ethereum blockchain. Smart contracts with bugs that have been exploited have led to huge losses, even to the tune of hundreds of millions.

? Australia Announces National Blockchain Roadmap and Further Boost to Government Funding

Australia has unveiled a national blockchain strategy and roadmap, with a boost of AU$100,000 (~$71,200) in further funding from the federal government. The news was announced in a joint media release from two Australian ministries on March 18.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews and Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham have jointly stated that the new policy roadmap aims to make Australia’s nascent blockchain industry into a global leader.

The roadmap will encompass the development of blockchain “regulation, skills and capacity building, innovation, investment, and international competitiveness and collaboration.”

We are now upper than the resistance line which is now a support line. Again, we are staying very close of it so we need to be carefull because to my opinion, the direction is not yet validated and we could have also a sudden drop at any moment. We need to take some distance from that line with a UP or a DOWN. Let’s see which direction the market will choose.

Welcome to the Daily Crypto News: A complete Press Review, Coin Calendar and Trading Analysis. Enjoy!

? A Blockchain to Connect All Blockchains, Cosmos Is Officially Live

Cosmos, a highly anticipated blockchain itself designed to improve the interoperability between any number of other blockchains, has officially released a live software.

With the mining of its first block at 23:00 UTC, the project has launched Cosmos Hub, the first in a series of proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchains that will be created in the Cosmos ecosystem.

At present, users of the network will not be able to swap tokens between blockchains or otherwise connect to Cosmos Hub with existing blockchain networks until validators officially vote to activate what is called the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.

? Strong Bitcoin Volumes Bode Well for Price Breakout

Bitcoin’s daily trading volume remains elevated at highs above $10 billion, going against the technical theory that investor interest tends to drop during periods of consolidation. Therefore, the ongoing sideways trading near $3,900 may end with a bull breakout toward the recent high of $4,20

Trading volumes have been strong since the corrective rally kicked off in early February, so a range breakdown looks unlikely.

Prices could first see a drop below $3,865 (March 12 low) due to the extended consolidation. That said, the short-term outlook would turn bearish only if the higher low of $3,743 created on March 3 is breached

? Decentralized or Nothing: Song Slams IBM Over Blockchain Hype at SXSW

More or less decentralized? For Jimmy Song, there’s no in between.

An author and partner at venture firm Blockchain Capital, Song made that point repeatedly in a debate with IBM engineer and Hyperledger Fabric co-lead Chris Ferris at SXSW Thursday, where he told the crowd at the Hilton Austin in no uncertain terms: “You either have control over your stuff or you don’t. It’s a zero or a one.”

The debate pitted permissioned blockchains – the private networks being pitched to big business – against permissionless blockchains – the technology undergirding bitcoin and other open-source networks. Billed as a “deathmatch” on the festival agenda, Song was determined to give the audience what they came for.

? CBOE Will Not List Bitcoin Futures in March, Cites Need to Assess Crypto Derivatives

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) will not add a new Bitcoin (BTC) futures market in March, the firm said in a statement on March 14.

Per the statement, CBOE is re-evaluating how it approaches trading digital assets. CBOE said:

“CFE is not adding a Cboe Bitcoin (USD) (“XBT”) futures contract for trading in March 2019. CFE is assessing its approach with respect to how it plans to continue to offer digital asset derivatives for trading. While it considers its next steps, CFE does not currently intend to list additional XBT futures contracts for trading.”

? French Court Clerks to Use IBM Blockchain Platform for Corporate Registry

French commercial court clerks will use a blockchain-based platform to record changes in companies’ legal status within the country. The development was revealed in an official announcement on March 14.

The blockchain network was jointly developed by IBM and the National Council of Clerks (NCC) and will reportedly be deployed starting in 2019 by the clerks operating in commercial courts across France. The blockchain platform is built on the Hyperledger Fabric framework and aims to increase transparency and efficiency in legal transactions associated with the lifecycle of companies in the registry.

Here is the chart of yesterday :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Here is the current chart :

STEEMUSD.jpg

As you can see, we broke the support line around 0.49$. However, look the last candles, these candles could be an indicator of reversal and if it is the case, we will go back quickly upper than the support line again. It is a possible scenario as we had many bearish traps these last week. The second scenario is a touch (pull back) on the support line before the continuation of the drop. Let’s see 😉

? Tether Says Its USDT Stablecoin May Not Be Backed By Fiat Alone

Tether has updated the terms on its website, saying that its dollar-pegged USDT stablecoin may not be backed 100 percent by fiat reserves.
The new text states that while its stablecoin is 100 percent backed, its reserves may at times include other assets.

The website reads:

“Every tether is always 100% backed by our reserves, which include traditional currency and cash equivalents and, from time to time, may include other assets and receivables from loans made by Tether to third parties, which may include affiliated entities (collectively, “reserves”)”.

? Stellar Lumens Is About to Begin Trading on Coinbase Pro

The Stellar lumen has just become the latest cryptocurrency to be listed on Coinbase’s professional exchange.

Coinbase Pro announced Wednesday that it was accepting deposits of XLM, with trading support coming once sufficient liquidity is established. The process will take a minimum of 12 hours, according to a blog post.

The cryptocurrency is not yet available on Coinbase’s retail platforms, including coinbase.com or its Android and iOS apps.

? Spain: Stock Exchange Operator Pilots Collateral Pledges Digitization on Blockchain

Major Spanish stock market operator Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) has completed its first blockchain pilot for electronic certificates of collateral pledges, according to an official press release published on March 15.

Implemented along with Renta 4 Banco, which is the only investment services firm listed on the BME, the new pilot intends to eliminate the use of physical certifications by digitizing all processes and providing network participants with real-time access to data.

? Crypto Mogul Moshe Hogeg’s ICOs Have Unusual Patterns, Analysis Finds

Best-known internationally as the chief executive of the blockchain smartphone startup Sirin Labs, Moshe Hogeg is becoming known for something else in Israel – mounting lawsuits.

As reported extensively by regional news outlets, a lawsuit filed in January claims Hogeg misappropriated funds from the sale of new cryptocurrencies for both his own gain and to benefit his investment portfolio, including Sirin Labs. The judge has reportedly given Hogeg until March 15 to settle with the plaintiff, Chinese investor Zhewen Hu.

Here is the chart of yesterday :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Here is the current chart :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Yesterday, I was saying you that we must have a bounce from the support line in blue and hopefully it happened. We are now going in direction of the previous Top around 0.56$. This is the next objective to reach in order to start again to do new highs. The STEEM is in a UP trend the last weeks and even if it is normal to have some corrections, it looks like the market is much more positive than back. Enjoy !
