? Constantinople, For Real This Time

The much-anticipated Ethereum hard fork known as Constantinople is set to be implemented at block number 7,280,000, which developers have predicted will take place on Thursday, February 28. Of course, the exact timing of activation depends on block times between now and then, meaning the upgrade could happen one to two days before or after this Thursday.

Constantinople was initially set to activate last month, but a security vulnerability in EIP 1283, one of the originally included improvement proposals, delayed the upgrade’s implementation. Core developers decided to remove the faulty EIP and push the hard fork back to block number 7,280,000.

? Coinbase Exchange Users Can Buy and Sell XRP Starting Tomorrow

Crypto exchange Coinbase is launching support for XRP, the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

The exchange announced Monday it would be listing XRP on its professional trading platform, Coinbase Pro, in “transfer-only” mode, meaning customers can only deposit tokens to begin with. After a minimum of 12 hours, the company plans to activate other trading services, though this timeline is variable.

Initially, Coinbase Pro customers in the U.S. (excluding New York state), the UK, some EU nations, Canada, Singapore and Australia will be able to access XRP, with support for other jurisdictions possibly being added in the future.

? Japanese Multinational Holding SoftBank Announces Blockchain ID Working Group

Japanese multinational holding conglomerate SoftBank Corp. and American telecoms-focused blockchain firm TBCASoft are to lead a new blockchain-based digital identification study group under the canopy of the Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG). The development was announced in a SoftBank press release on Feb. 26.

As previously reported, CBSG — a global blockchain consortium of telecom carriers — was founded in September 2017, in a bid to push greater adoption of the technology in the industry. Alongside Softbank and TBCASoft, the organization counts Taiwan-based telecoms carrier Far EasTone and U.S.-based telecoms firm Sprint as founding members.

? Bitfinex Recovers $106,000 of Stolen BTC With US Government Help

Bitfinex has recovered 27.7 bitcoin stolen by hackers in August 2016, the company said on Monday. The coins, worth around $106,000 at the time of writing, represent only a small fraction of the total BTC stolen. U.S. federal law enforcement agencies recovered the bitcoin and returned it to the cryptocurrency exchange.

Over two years following the hack of the Bitfinex platform, today we see the results of a clear and robust response strategy and the efforts of the U.S. government. It gives us great pleasure to be able to reimburse our traders that were loyal to us and believed in us at a very difficult time. We would like to thank U.S. federal law enforcement agencies for their ongoing efforts to investigate the security breach and their commitment to seizing and returning stolen assets.

? NFTs Are Here. But Where Are They Headed?

There was something both fresh and familiar about the NFT.NYC conference that non-fungible token developer PeopleBrowsr put on at the PlayStation Theater in Times Square last week.

It felt like some of the early bitcoin conferences: A little scrappy and rough around the edges, some wild ideas that ranged from practical to pie-in-the-sky, but in all exuding a great deal of enthusiasm for a novel blockchain technology that could spawn a variety of new business and philanthropic models.

It remains to be seen whether NFTs can get beyond the gimmick status they occupied in popular imagination since Dapper Labs launched CryptoKitties, the popular game that creates unique, collectible, breedable digital cats. There are questions about scalability and interoperability associated with ERC-721, the dominant, Ethereum-based NFT standard, and on whether the world will embrace outside-the-box ideas for redefining value, property and commerce.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yesterday :

Here is the current chart :

With this kind of chart, it is obvious that my lines are well selected and used by the market. Look how the STEEM went touch exactly the support line at 0.31$ and how the bounce has been created by the support line. The chart is confirming exactly my scenario. So now let’s see, that bounce is perhaps just a pause before the next drop but the DROP could also be invalidated if the UP is continuing. The coming hours will be very important.

Scripsio: Social Interaction & Blogs With Monetization Options

Scripsio will pursue as many non-invasive methods of monetization as we can. This means that you will probably see advertisements. Of course, you can place ads too. But our main efforts will be elsewhere.

Subsites

We have implemented a subsite option for you, in case you want to be able to brand your own site. There is a nominal fee of the equivalent of $5/month. If you desire some help with setup, you can contract with one of our staff on a freelance basis, or bring on a friend or other contractor. We’re open to proposals, but our focus is on Scripsio so we won’t be developing subsites. You will have support for anything we provide that isn’t working right. That doesn’t include any tools you add yourself.

Store

Scripsio intends to have a market application on the site before too long. This will provide a place where you can buy and sell goods (hard and digital) and services.

Blogs

Most of the site is pretty intuitive to use. You just post what you want, set up groups, join groups, build your list of followers/followees and engage however you want. This engagement is local and stored only on the Scripsio servers. Again, you can always delete it all with a few clicks, if you desire.

On the other hand, we have integrated the social features with your own Scripsio blogs. Everyone has one, so you can use that to post content anytime you want.

All you need to do to access it is to hover over “+ New” in the topbar and then click on “Post”. The editor opens up and you’re on your way. When you publish the entry, it will show up on your timeline and however you have set your preferences.

As a small bonus, all articles posted from Scripsio will be tweeted on Scripsio’s Twitter. If you decide to have your own blog, we can set it up to automatically post to your Twitter as well.

Steem

An exciting feature of these blogs is that they are integrated with the Steem blockchain. It’s not necessary to do so, but you are able to go into your dashboard and set it up.

In order to set it up, all you need to do is hover on “Scripsio” in the topbar, then click on “Dashboard”. From there, click on Profile in the left column.

You’ll see your details there, most of which are editable. Your password can be changed there as well. If you’re logged into multiple devices and want them logged out, there is an option for that. And just below that, about halfway down the page, there are options for inputting your Steem Username and Private Posting Key (for safety and security, please don’t use a different key).

Once you’ve done that, and saved, it, all your blog entries will publish to your Steem blockchain account as well, from where they can be seen on other UIs, offering multiple angles of engagement. The community also has integrated the comments and upvotes section, so you can enjoy a full experience from Scripsio. If, for some reason, you would rather publish an article without it going to Steem, you can do that as well. Simply uncheck the box in the SteemPress section in the right column of your editor.

No Steem Account Yet?

If this interests you and you don’t have a Steem account yet, there are a couple of options. The easiest and quickest is probably to go through Steem.Ninja (can use credit card) or AnonSteem (anonymous/cryptos only), where you can buy one and have it all set up very quickly. Another project to help you is Steem onboarding. While setting up an account through them may not be quite as convenient as Steem Ninja, they are in the process of setting up introductory tutorials to help you learn about blockchain and Steem in particular. We highly recommend their services, even if you don’t get your account from them.

We’re still trying to figure out if we’re grown up enough for beta. Come on over and see what you think. We’d love the feedback.

Quod Scripsio

Almost Beta? Come Kick the Tires and You Tell Us!

Scripsio was excited to get out in the open as quickly as possible. But there’s always that concern about under-delivering, over-promising and simply offering a bad experience at a time when first impressions are perhaps most important.

On one hand, Scripsio needs a lot of work. But, on the other, a lot of it works already. So, are we ready for Beta? We really don’t know for sure. So we’re inviting you to come on over and take it for a test drive. Let us know if Scripsio really is ready for Beta. If so, here we go. If not, let us know what it still needs to be mature enough to embrace the Beta designation.

What is Scripsio?

That probably depends on who you ask. For some, it’s a community site. For others, a social platform. And yet a few will think of it as a Steem UI.

For us, it’s all those, and more. Scripsio is the culmination of a dream to have a multiuser, multisite (multiblog) social community without censorship, but also with built in features to promote mutual consideration. On top of this is the desire to create monetization options so that there are opportunities for everyone who wants to, to engage in a way that provides some profit.

Freedom

But we also wanted to stay out of the way. Your relationships are yours. From Scripsio’s perspective, it’s up to you to build them and nurture them. You don’t need some corporation attempting to demand how you behave.

On the other hand, folks need to be able to block content they don’t want to be subjected to. So we’re installing filters for NSFW and other categories that you can opt out of (not implemented yet). Hopefully that’ll provide an environment that is conducive to growth, freedom and mutual respect without anyone having to compromise their own principles and convictions.

Scripsio also respects your property. What’s yours is yours. This is why we’ve activated two features in your profile. You can download all your own data at any time. After all, it’s yours, right? But you can also delete it at any time. It’s sort of the danger button. Once you click it and approve the erasure, your info is deleted from our servers. There are exceptions, such as if you had any transactions on the site that have to be recorded. And we can’t erase what you’ve put on the blockchain. But you can delete it from the Scripsio servers.

Privacy

As you can see in our Privacy Policy, we do not sell you out. It’s your information. We will use general information regarding categories and traffic flow to help with analyzing what works and how we may serve you better, as well as in our pursuit of more effective advertising and other opportunities. But your personal information will not be sold, ever.

As you can see, we do not ask for very much information. The only reasons we ask for your birth date is for NSFW purposes and to protect children. Otherwise, you can use whatever information for your profile that suits you. We do verify the email address to at least set a low wall of entry, to help reduce spam and harassment.

This is also one of the reasons we do not have any sort of fiat gateway on the site. While we may do so eventually, it will have to be through a third party that verifies your identity. Simply put, we don’t want to be responsible for that information and we want you to be able to engage freely on Scripsio without concern regarding your personal information. Therefore, our goal will be to provide tools to facilitate exchanges in digital cryptos/tokens.

Well, let’s wrap it up for today. If you’re not on Scripsio now, you can click the link at the bottom and read this there. It’s all integrated with Steem.

For now, please check it out and let us know what you think. Then let’s build it into someplace we feel safe and that we can all be proud of.
