Is It Time To Short FedEx Again???

Two months ago, I wrote a post titled,

FedEx On Notice Today

FedEx reported earnings that beat on revenue, but missed profit estimates.  During the earnings call, FedEx decreased their 2019 numbers because of the ongoing US-China tariff war, which has already affected 10% of its businesses in China.  On that news FedEx sold off hard.

Morgan Stanley analyst Ravi Shanker notes that Amazon (AMZN), which currently is leasing 40 cargo jets, could eventually have 100 planes running and estimates that the planned Amazon Air routes could overlap with more than two-thirds of the volume flown by UPS and FedEx.

That’s bad news

More Upside In Mattel

A couple of days ago, I read an article on Investorplace about Mattel, titled,

Here’s Why $15 Looks Like A Top In Mattel Stock.

Overall, the pathway to restored profitability and top-line growth is gaining visibility. This boost in visibility explains the big pop in hugely beaten up MAT stock.

But, this post-earnings pop is overdone. At current levels, a Mattel turnaround over the next several years is already priced in. The stock is overbought and fully valued, and the price tag doesn’t seem to price in enough execution risk.

But, in the big picture, this was a $9 stock at

Will Canada Goose Soar Again???

Canada Goose Holdings Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells premium outdoor apparel for men, women, youth, children, and babies. I was aware of Canadian Goose when they went public in 2017 and then Canadian Goose made the headlines again in recent weeks.

In the last two weeks, as weather has dipped as low as -30 degrees with wind chill, the Chicago Tribune reports that the city has fallen victim to a Canada Goose coat stealing spree. There have been multiple accounts of thieves specifically targeting and stripping people of their $495 to $1695 power parkas—and, according to the Tribune, at least one

Unusual Options Activity In Coca-Cola – Part II

Yesterday, after Coca Cola announced earnings for the holiday quarter, the stock price fell more than 8%, the worst drop in a day since 2008.

Coca Cola missed on revenue and the forecast for the year was disappointing.  Sales of sparkling soft drinks fell 1%, partly due to softness in North America and sales of juice and plant-based drinks dropped 2% as Coke focused less on low-value juice brands in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Two months ago, I talked about unusual options activity betting against Coca-Cola. What made this an intriguing bet against Coca-Cola was the Smart Money thinks that Coca-Cola

$NDX has hit the 200 day…now we reverse?

The NDX has hit the 200 day this morning after tapping up overnight. Now we have all 3 MAJOR exchanges hit the 200 day including the Dow, S&P, and the Nasdaq. The IWM is still weaker and has not touched the 200 which is actually more for the bear case here. The market has rallied up 8 weeks in a roW, and I believe since the NDX has now touched the “magical line” it gets rejected there.

Iam Shorting the NDX here at 7041 buy longing SQQQ. I am looking for a decent pullback and deciding from there. If it busts

Church And Dwight Needs To Pray

Church & Dwight reported earnings this last week.

Finally, shares of Church & Dwight fell 7.5%. The maker of consumer brand products like Arm & Hammer, Oxiclean, and Waterpik said that sales grew more than 4% in the fourth quarter of 2018 on an organic basis, with especially strong 9% gains internationally.

Yet even though results in the consumer international and consumer domestic segments were solid, Church & Dwight saw a big drop in net sales of specialty products. Moreover, investors were concerned about the impact of tariffs, which was a significant cause of a 2.5-percentage-point drop in gross margin to

$SPX has hit the 200 day MA…

Over the past couple weeks with buyers stretching the tape to the upside it appeared that this 200 day tap was inevitable. In fact the Dow and SPX have both touched the 200 day and I expect the NDX to do this sometimes this week. One cannot dent that it appears this rally is pressing upwards until the shorts get squeezed and the fund managers have to chase. This is now 8 straight green candles on the SPY chart and many are on the sidelines (Including myself). This rally did not let anyone in.

So what now? With this extension we

Playing Both Sides Of Under Armour

Under Armour Inc. will report fourth-quarter financial results pre-market Tuesday. Analysts largely expect the quarterly report and the 2019 forecast to be inline with the forecasts provided at the company’s December 12th investor day in which they disappointed investors by forecasting low-single-digit-sales growth in North America over the next five years.

But that didn’t stop the stock from rising 17% in January, even received an upgrade from Goldman Sachs on January 22nd with a price target of $28.  However, did the price rise to fast in too short of a span?

Analysts will be paying close attention to what Under Armour footwear sales and
