Elon vs Whitney Tilson, Round 2

Tesla announced that it’s looking to raise almost $3 billion in debt and equity, with Elon buying $25 million in stock as good faith, Whitney is betting again Tesla once again.  Despite Elon upping his stake in Tesla, now owning 20% of the company and saying some years ago, he would be the last person to sell shares, Whitney is making headlines again and looking for someone to take the other side of his bet.

The last time Whitney made the headlines, it two months ago.  Whitney said Musk has no more rabbits to pull out of his hat and therefore

They sold their first pair of Crocs at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in late 2002 and by 2007 the company

Short The Pull Back On The DAX

The EU has cut growth forecasts for Germany for the second time this year, as trade tensions and a Chinese slowdown weigh on the traditional economic powerhouse of the region.Germany is only expected to grow at a rate of 0.5% this year, according to the latest economic forecasts by the European Commission. It will be the second-worst economy across the EU in terms of growth, with only Italy looking more downbeat. It comes after the institution lowered Germany’s growth expectations from 1.8% to 1.1% in February. The German economy, driven by manufacturing and exports, has been impacted by stalling growth in

SPDR Sector Relative Strength Analysis Report For Week Starting 5/13/19

Sector rotation is the action of shifting investment assets from one sector to another to take advantage of cyclical trends in the overall economy in an attempt to beat the market.  Sector rotation seeks to capitalize on the theory that not all sectors of the economy perform well at the same time because sectors of the stock market perform differently during the phases of the economic and market cycle.

For example, defensive
sectors such as consumer staples, utility and health care stocks tend to
outperform during a recessionary phase, while consumer discretionary and tech
stocks tend to fare well during early expansions.

Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (ZAYO) through its subsidiaries, provides bandwidth infrastructure solutions for the communications industry in the U.S., Canada and Europe.   Customers include wireless and wireline carriers, media and content companies and finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.

Earlier this year I wrote a post about Zayo jumping almost 10% after Bloomberg reported that talks were heating up between Google and CenturyLink to buy Zayo and when news hit the wire, the Smart Money has been buying up all the call options they can in Feb and Mar, thinking the buyout will occur by mid-March.

Stamps.com No Longer Sticking

Yesterday, they almost topped that performance, I should say lack of performance when the stock fell 55% after announcing their first quarter earnings and lowered guidance for 2019.  The numbers caught investors off guard, but the CEO, Ken McBride insisted the numbers were “in line with our expectations in light of our new strategic direction.”

NOTE TO SELF: How could the numbers be

Is Roku The Next Microsoft???

On Wednesday, Roku reported their first quarter earnings. Although net loss of $9.7 million, or 9 cents a share, revenue rose to $207 million from $137 million a year earlier ago.  Also, active-account base grew by 2 million users sequentially, reaching 29.1 million in the first quarter.  And for the full year, Roku forecast $1.03 billion to $1.05 billion in revenue, slightly ahead of expectations.

This opportunity in the large streaming trend makes ROKU a great position to increase its number of users, the analysts said. As a result of its leadership in the sector, ROKU shares could soar three to

Can $UBER give $LYFT a Lyft?

It sure does need one. After being pushed into the IPO market land and opening up well above the IPO price at 72, it has been utterly obliterated into the ground. Every single investor is losing money here (unless you are shorting, but they aren’t investors). This is a gigantic fail of an IPO. Does UBER make the same mistake?

They are doing everything they can not to including holding a valuation much below what was originally estimated and attempting to open the share price lower to. From the looks of it LYFT is not getting a bounce on UBER’s

Goldman Sachs…The Real Uber Winner

Uber makes its IPO debut Friday in one of the most anticipated IPOs in 2019.  Uber is set to price their shares at $44 to $50, given the company an immediate $80 or $90 billion market cap.

In 2018, Uber’s revenue reached $11.3 billion for the year, up 43% from 2017, but the company remains unprofitable.  Thus, tomorrow there will be winners and losers (just like with the Lyft IPO).  The losers will be the retail investors, who will be eager to jump in and get a piece of the pie.  The winners will include, Ashton Kutcher, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow

Beyond Meat Is Beyond Overvalued

Beyond Meat priced its initial public offering at $25 and now the stock is up more than 200% in less than a week.  And while the S&P 500 closed down more than 1% yesterday, Beyond Meat closed the day up 6%

Beyond Meat, a maker of plant-based meat products is the new IT THING on Wall Street and sold at a supermarket and restaurant near you.

Beyond Meat is also trailblazing a new secular movement away from animal protein.  Beef is loaded with saturated fat and many, many resources are needed to produce 1 lb of beef.  For example,   the total
