Switzerland’s Federal Assembly, the federal legislature of the Swiss parliament, approved a motion on March 20 instructing the Swiss Federal Council, which serves as the country’s collective executive head of government, to begin adjusting existing legislation to apply to <abbr title="
A digital store of monetary value the primary use of which is for buying and selling goods, services, or property, such as Ether or bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies are cryptographically secured against counterfeit and often are not issued or controlled by any centralized authority.
“>cryptocurrency regulation. According to the press release, the Federal Council will now be responsible for “adapt[ing] the provisions on procedural instruments of the judicial and administrative authorities so that they can also be applied to cryptocurrencies.”
Introduced by assemblyman Giovanni Merlini, the approved motion is meant to help the Swiss government “close gaps in protection against abuse” of cryptocurrencies, which Merlini says favors “extortion and money laundering.” Specifically, Merlini hopes that, by adapting the existing laws, a clarification will be made regarding cryptocurrency trading platforms and whether they should be subject to regulation by the Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), Switzerland’s financial regulator.
Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin says that high ether prices are important both for network security and the wider ecosystem’s development. Buterin made his remarks during an interview for Laura Shin’s crypto-focused “Unchained,” hosted at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and live-streamed on March 20.
In response to Shin’s question as to whether protocol designers and project leaders should be focusing on the question of a cryptocurrency’s price, Buterin referred to the “earlier rhetoric” of the Ethereum project, which had explicitly downplayed the importance of the asset’s value:
“In part, it was counter-signaling to distinguish ourselves [Ethereum] from other crypto projects that do pumping and lambo-ing way too much. But it was also about minimizing legal risk by basically trying to make the project seem more distant from something that would be covered by financial regulation.”
Bitmain is planning to deploy 200,000 units of its own mining equipment in China to take advantage of cheap hydroelectric power this summer.
The equipment is conservatively estimated to cost $80 million, but it may be more profitable right now for Bitmain to mine crypto itself than try to sell all this inventory.
The move signals a broader shift in the market, with miners preparing to invest again following last year’s contraction in capacity.
Americanprediction market startup and hedge fund Numerai (NMR) has raised $11 million in an initial coin offering (ICO) to launch its project Erasure, Numerai tweeted on March 21.
Introduced in late 2016, Numeraire network provides a blockchain and cryptographic token-based ecosystem for incentivizing anonymous data scientists to create predictive models. Based on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, Numeraire tokens are used in trading market predictions on the startup’s platform.
Numerai founder Richard Craib said that the funds from the recent ICO will be mostly spent on hiring engineers for Erasure, the decentralized unit of Numerai’s marketplace, Coindesk reports.
The race to file blockchain patents has accelerated lately with one specific firm, Nchain Holdings, attempting to capture hundreds of distributed ledger-related patents. According to reports, self-proclaimed Satoshi – Craig Wright – and his Nchain business claim to have filed 666 patent applications to date, capturing a gigantic portfolio of intellectual property.
The notorious Craig Wright, a man who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto, is continuing his effort to obtain hundreds of cryptocurrency and blockchain-related patents. Wright is the chief scientist of Nchain but is best known for his attempts to prove he created Bitcoin over a decade ago.

The BTC did a correction today and unfortunatly, the STEEM followed the master. The support line around 0.49$ didn’t hold us. We have now to see if we will go back test again that resistance line at 0.49$ or if the break will be confirmed and that we will go now in the direction of the next support line around 0.43$.
Look, i love the ability to see my Steem Monsters/Drug Wars ROI so easily. Imo, its a great tool. I used to keep my own record manually before “bookkeeping” came along but i was nowhere as precise so when this tool came along i was super happy with it.
And kudos to its creator @holger80.
But the tool has a problem. Because its so useful, folks keep on calling up the tool constantly and flooding up comment sections.
When i use the tool i try and call it up in one of my old payed out posts. Problem is that many people just dont care and spam any post related to the game they are pulling up the stats for. I could use MUTE on “bookkeeping” but that would stop me from using it. Theres another thing as well….
Do we really want to fill up the chain with information like this? Theres literally hundreds of calls per post. Take a look at the @drugwars posts and you will see that almost half the comments are from bookkeeping.
What i propose is that you move bookkeeping from STEEM offchain.
@holger80 ill ping you again. Could you go talk to guys like @steemchiller, @dragosroua, @penguinpablo and move the tool to “Steem World”,”Steem Supply” or “Steem Now”, if thats possible, and shut down the service onchain? Or maybe build a front end yourself.
I just think its a bad idea letting this go on. Thats all…..
An Indian crypto exchange has launched a program that allows its users to earn interest on their cryptocurrencies held at the exchange. Initially, users can lend BTC, USDT, BNB, XRP, and ETH. The CEO of the exchange has shared details about this new offering with news.Bitcoin.com.
The CEO explained that his exchange has an internal settlement and liquidation mechanism for margin trading which does not have “a dedicated funding wallet,” elaborating:
“Funds are then lent to the users only when the margin trade is open, with no withdrawal access and hard liquidation with 7.5% maintenance margin.”
Facebook’s blockchain recruitment drive continues, as the social network looks to hire a lead commercial counsel for its initiatives with the technology.
A new job posting at the company’s career page says the position will be responsible for “drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts related our blockchain initiatives, including partnerships needed to launch new products and expand such products internationally.”
United States-based payment platform Square is hiring cryptocurrency engineers and is offering to pay them in digital currency, according to a tweet published by Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey on March 20.
In the tweet, Dorsey announces that “Square is hiring 3–4 crypto engineers and one designer to work full-time on open source contributions to the Bitcoin/crypto ecosystem. Work from anywhere, report directly to me, and we can even pay you in Bitcoin!”
Dorsey further commented that the decision to pay employees in digital currency is based on the intention “to make the broader crypto ecosystem better,” thus contributing to the Bitcoin (BTC) community.
The multimillion-dollar blockchain Tezos has officially concluded its first round of voting for two competing system-wide upgrade proposals.
Having raised a record fundraising amount of $232 million in an initial coin offering (ICO) in 2017, the Tezos blockchain officially launched last September. It was valued at over $1 billion at the time and presently sits at roughly $360 million in market capitalization, according to CoinMarketCap.
Not without its fair share of internal governance conflicts, today marks the official close of the first round of voting on the Tezos blockchain. The two proposals dubbed ‘Athens A’ and ‘Athens B’ are the first of its kind to undergo Tezos’ protocol amendment procedures, designed to roll out system-wide upgrades otherwise known as hard forks in an entirely automated and self-governing fashion.
At least one scammer is reportedly gaming other users on the blockchain-powered event betting platform Augur by creating deliberately invalid markets, according to a Reddit thread published on March 20.
Created by the non-profit Forecast Foundation, Augur is an Ethereum (ETH) mainnet-based predictions platform, which launched in July 2018. The platform allows users to stake tokens to bet on predictions of the outcome of a given event.
The reported scam entails a bad actor creating a predictions market that contains subtle contradictions or inconsistencies in its wording, which will ultimately lead to the market being declared invalid, and all staked funds thus being distributed evenly between betters.
David Gerard, author of the crypto- and blockchain-skeptic book, “Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain,” has tweeted his sardonic response to news of the alleged scam, writing:
“Augur users shocked, shocked to discover that statements in words may have exploitable ambiguities when computerised, and that this opens their system to SCAMMERS!”

We finally broke the resistance line today after several tries the last days and even weeks. We have now to see if that break will be confirm. We could see a pull back on the same line before a UP continuation. What is important to see now is that this line acts as a support and trigger a bounce if we touch it.
New Zealand-based cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia has resumed trading on 40 trade pairs, according to a tweet from the firm on March 18.
In the tweet, the company announces that it has “resumed trading on 40 trade pairs that we have quantified as secure. We will continue to expand this list as we clear more coins.” The update follows the exchange’s recent announcement of the plans to reopen trading on its platform by the end of March, following a $16 million hack in mid-January. In January, Cryptopia suspended services after detecting a major hack that reportedly “resulted in significant losses.” The platform had initially informed the public it was undergoing unscheduled maintenance, issuing several updates before officially disclosing the breach.Almost 90 percent of cryptocurrency exchanges’ reported trade volumes may be incorrect, new research from trading analytics platform The Tie warned in a digest released on March 18.
Reporting on figures gathered from 97 exchanges, researchers found that the vast majority of the volume claimed to come from users may not in fact exist.
The revelations came as a result of calculations of lesser-known exchanges versus well-known businesses such as Binance and Kraken.
IBM is taking its banking clients a step closer to cryptocurrency.
Announced Monday, six international banks have signed letters of intent to issue stablecoins, or tokens backed by fiat currency, on World Wire, an IBM payment network that uses the Stellar public blockchain. The network promises to let regulated institutions move value across borders – remittances or foreign exchange – more quickly and cheaply than the legacy correspondent banking system.
So far three of the banks have been identified – Philippines-based RCBC, Brazil’s Banco Bradesco, and Bank Busan of South Korea – the rest, which are soon to be named, will offer digital versions of euros and Indonesian rupiah, “pending regulatory approvals and other reviews,” IBM said.
BlockFi’s interest-yielding deposit accounts, launched in beta in January and fully live this month, have attracted more than $35 million in crypto. Most of it is being lent to institutional borrowers.
BlockFi’s terms of service give the company significant leeway over how it uses depositors’ funds and what interest rate it can pay them. This flexibility is needed for the company to grow fast, CEO Zac Prince says. Institutional investors borrow crypto at individualized terms, at interest rates from 4 to 12 percent, and BlockFi can call in the loans at any time.
When crypto prices move dramatically, BlockFi manages risks by making borrowers put up more collateral or selling some of it.
BlockFi is planning to roll out new products every six months and raise more capital.
On Monday, March 18, technology giant IBM announced that its new cross-border payments network, intended to clear and settle foreign exchange transactions in seconds instead of days or weeks, is widely available.
The pilot phase of the new payment network, dubbed World Wire, was first announced in July 2018. World Wire, which went into limited production on Monday, is built on the Stellar protocol and conducts transactions using Stellar Lumens and the US dollar-pegged Stronghold stablecoin. The network currently boasts payment locations in 72 different countries and can conduct transactions in 47 <abbr title="

Due to the Bitcoin up trend, it looks like the STEEM want start a little UP also and perhaps go test the resistance line. We are trying to break that resistance line since several days now but even we were able to do it during some hours, it was always to be rejected just under after. Let’s see if the UP that we have currently on the BTC will help us to really break the resistance line.
New blockchain startup Bison Trails has received an investment of $5.25 million in a seed round backed by Mike Novogratz’s crypto merchant bank Galaxy Digital. The firm announced the fundraising in a Medium post on March 15.
newLed by two early stage venture capital firms Initialized Capital and Accomplice, the series seed round was also backed by both Galaxy Digital and blockchain-focused asset management firm Distributed Global. Other investors included Notation Capital, Homebrew and Charge Ventures.
Bison Trails’ blockchain infrastructure is designed to offer a way to launch secure, available and geographically distributed nodes on a participatory blockchain network, the press release notes. The Bison Trails platform enables a number of blockchain tools including staking, validating, voting, transacting and securing blockchain protocols.

In light of the splash JPMorgan made recently with its plan for a bank-backed cryptocurrency, it’s worth remembering another big institution first tested a token to connect global payments – back in 2015.
Codenamed “Citicoin,” the project out of Citigroup’s innovation lab in Dublin was never formally announced by the bank, even as a proof of concept. The idea was to streamline global payment processes. As such, there are obvious parallels with the much-vaunted JPM Coin.
However, having taken stock of the experiment (not to mention the scorn of the bitcoin community at that time) Citi concluded that, while the technology has the potential to live up to its promises, there were other more effective and efficient ways of making improvements in payments.
Per the announcement, the shop is now accepting Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin SV (BSV), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC), Tron (TRX), NEO (NEO) and OmiseGO (OMG) for purchases worth over CHF 200 (about $200). The release further claims that the shop hosts around 2.7 million products, ranging from wheat beer to gaming PCs.
The new payment method was reportedly jointly developed as part of a pilot project with Swiss payment processor Datatrans and in collaboration with Danish crypto payments startup Coinify. The system opens 15-minute-time windows for customers, during which the crypto exchange rate doesn’t change in order to make the payment with a fee of 1.5 percent.
Nothing really new on the STEEM. We are staying really next than our support/resistance level in blue on the chart and the market is waiting for a Break Out to know the future direction for the STEEM. It is a similar pattern on all other cryptos but also on the master, the BTC. Let’s see which direction we will take in the coming days but at least, we had really a change of trend these last weeks but for sure we will have also some new corrections in a near future.
For those that dont know, Scirpsio is a blogging site that is connected to STEEM through Steempress. I use it for most my posts since it has a much superior text editor then Steemit. Now that you know what im talking about i want to tell you that SOMEONE IS TRYING TO HACK MEEEEE!!!!! Oooooh lawd have mercy!
I received a message from Scripsio in my mail about the login attempts so i naturally wanted to see who was trying to brute force their way into my account…
Hello lordbutterfly, 24 failed login attempts and 4 lockout(s) from IP 185.211.245.169 Last Login Attempt : 18/03/2019 19:25:14 Last User Attempt : lordbutterfly IP has been blocked until : 18/03/2019 19:40:14
Checked the IP address and it seems its some guy from Moscow, Russia. I dont know why hes targeting me, Putin is my main man. The ISP is registered to a a guy called Chernyshov Aleksandr Aleksandrovich.
But theres something very unfortunate for hacker boy. My passwords are pretty darn safe. I have a many characters long password that is probably pretty difficult to brute force. And even if he did get in, all he could basically do is post stuff to my blog or Steemit, maybe find out my email which again has a different password. Not much else.
Still, doesnt feel great seeing someone trying to get into your account.
So please, everyone, give me big votes to make me feel better. 🙁
Bitcoin’s user growth, as represented by active addresses, has spiked in the last eight weeks leaving the price far behind, a move that contradicts the popular belief the two tend to move in tandem.
The 30 day average of active addresses on bitcoin’s blockchain, or the number of accounts that made cryptocurrency transactions at any point during the last 24 hours, total 664,064 as of March 16– up 17 percent from 569,812 seen on Jan. 20. Bitcoin’s 30 day average price, however, has increased just 1 percent during the same time span, according to Coinmetrics.
Bakkt was first announced in early August as a bitcoin trading and custody platform, but its launch has been repeatedly delayed
It has submitted a proposal to the CFTC, asking for an exemption which would allow it to custody the bitcoin it uses to settle its futures contracts. While CFTC Commissioners were reportedly given the proposal in December, it now appears to be back before CFTC staffers.
It is unclear if or when the proposal may be published for a mandatory 30-day public review period.
Until the review period has ended – and CFTC Commissioners have voted to approve Bakkt’s exemption – the exchange cannot launch its one-day physically-settled futures contract.
Per the announcement, the changes aim to increase liquidity, enhance price discovery and ensure smoother price movements. The changes include a new fee structure, reportedly designed to increase liquidity, updated order maximums, new order increment sizes, the turning off of stop market orders and added market order protection points.
According to the post, Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime — the firm’s institutional trading platform — will cease their support for stop market orders. The announcement further explains that all stop orders must now be submitted as limit orders and include a limit price.
More than 1.2 million ethereum applications have used a little-known security tool to help them avoid the costly errors arising from self-executing lines of code known as smart contracts.
Launched by ethereum technology startup Amberdata back in October, the free tool is available for anyone in the general public to interpret the security of active applications on the ethereum blockchain. Smart contracts with bugs that have been exploited have led to huge losses, even to the tune of hundreds of millions.
Australia has unveiled a national blockchain strategy and roadmap, with a boost of AU$100,000 (~$71,200) in further funding from the federal government. The news was announced in a joint media release from two Australian ministries on March 18.
Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews and Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham have jointly stated that the new policy roadmap aims to make Australia’s nascent blockchain industry into a global leader.
The roadmap will encompass the development of blockchain “regulation, skills and capacity building, innovation, investment, and international competitiveness and collaboration.”
Changes in the new release: improved synching, added official links and exchanges , minor bug fixes , minor GUI improvements.

We are now upper than the resistance line which is now a support line. Again, we are staying very close of it so we need to be carefull because to my opinion, the direction is not yet validated and we could have also a sudden drop at any moment. We need to take some distance from that line with a UP or a DOWN. Let’s see which direction the market will choose.
I just wanted to complain a bit more how unlucky i am lately when playing Steem Monsters. Seemed like the thing to do. I opened 50 damn cards and got barely a couple dollars worth. Its a disgrace! My card clicking finger is getting chopped off.
Did I ask too much? More than a lot? You gave me nothing, now it’s all I got.
Yes. You gave me rusty androids and Highland archers when all i want is a gold foil Ruler of the Seas! Damn this game!
Fine. FINE! I still have Drug Snores. Almost at 0.4 STEEM per day right now. It will literally only take me 3000 years to earn myself a Lambo from playing this game. Did the math.. Lowest price of a Lamborghini Huracan is 200 000 USD. I havent intended on living past 2500 but now it seems ill have to. Thats why i got in this game. For the hoes and the Lamboes. And i aint quiting till i get them.
LOL. I just had no idea what to write about today. haha. So you get this nonsense.
