? Major Cryptocurrencies See Slight Gains, Palladium Hits $1,600 for The First Time

Tuesday, March 19 — cryptocurrency markets are mostly trading in the green zone, with Bitcoin (BTC) hovering above the $4,000 mark.

? Cryptopia Crypto Exchange Resumes Trading on 40 Crypto Pairs

New Zealand-based cryptocurrency exchange Cryptopia has resumed trading on 40 trade pairs, according to a tweet from the firm on March 18.

In the tweet, the company announces that it has “resumed trading on 40 trade pairs that we have quantified as secure. We will continue to expand this list as we clear more coins.” The update follows the exchange’s recent announcement of the plans to reopen trading on its platform by the end of March, following a $16 million hack in mid-January.
In January, Cryptopia suspended services after detecting a major hack that reportedly “resulted in significant losses.” The platform had initially informed the public it was undergoing unscheduled maintenance, issuing several updates before officially disclosing the breach.Almost 90 percent of cryptocurrency exchanges’ reported trade volumes may be incorrect, new research from trading analytics platform The Tie warned in a digest released on March 18.

Reporting on figures gathered from 97 exchanges, researchers found that the vast majority of the volume claimed to come from users may not in fact exist.

The revelations came as a result of calculations of lesser-known exchanges versus well-known businesses such as Binance and Kraken.

? IBM Signs 6 Banks to Issue Stablecoins and Use Stellar’s XLM Cryptocurrency

IBM is taking its banking clients a step closer to cryptocurrency.

Announced Monday, six international banks have signed letters of intent to issue stablecoins, or tokens backed by fiat currency, on World Wire, an IBM payment network that uses the Stellar public blockchain. The network promises to let regulated institutions move value across borders – remittances or foreign exchange – more quickly and cheaply than the legacy correspondent banking system.

So far three of the banks have been identified – Philippines-based RCBC, Brazil’s Banco Bradesco, and Bank Busan of South Korea – the rest, which are soon to be named, will offer digital versions of euros and Indonesian rupiah, “pending regulatory approvals and other reviews,” IBM said.

? $25 Million in 2 Weeks: BlockFi Booms as Bitcoin, Ether Investors Seek Interest

BlockFi’s interest-yielding deposit accounts, launched in beta in January and fully live this month, have attracted more than $35 million in crypto. Most of it is being lent to institutional borrowers.

BlockFi’s terms of service give the company significant leeway over how it uses depositors’ funds and what interest rate it can pay them. This flexibility is needed for the company to grow fast, CEO Zac Prince says.
Institutional investors borrow crypto at individualized terms, at interest rates from 4 to 12 percent, and BlockFi can call in the loans at any time.

When crypto prices move dramatically, BlockFi manages risks by making borrowers put up more collateral or selling some of it.

BlockFi is planning to roll out new products every six months and raise more capital.

? IBM Unfurls Cross-Border Payment Network

On Monday, March 18, technology giant IBM announced that its new cross-border payments network, intended to clear and settle foreign exchange transactions in seconds instead of days or weeks, is widely available.

The pilot phase of the new payment network, dubbed World Wire, was first announced in July 2018. World Wire, which went into limited production on Monday, is built on the Stellar protocol and conducts transactions using Stellar Lumens and the US dollar-pegged Stronghold stablecoin. The network currently boasts payment locations in 72 different countries and can conduct transactions in 47 <abbr title="

Due to the Bitcoin up trend, it looks like the STEEM want start a little UP also and perhaps go test the resistance line. We are trying to break that resistance line since several days now but even we were able to do it during some hours, it was always to be rejected just under after. Let’s see if the UP that we have currently on the BTC will help us to really break the resistance line.

? Blockchain Startup Bison Trails Receives $5.25 Mln Investment Backed by Galaxy Digital

New blockchain startup Bison Trails has received an investment of $5.25 million in a seed round backed by Mike Novogratz’s crypto merchant bank Galaxy Digital. The firm announced the fundraising in a Medium post on March 15.

newLed by two early stage venture capital firms Initialized Capital and Accomplice, the series seed round was also backed by both Galaxy Digital and blockchain-focused asset management firm Distributed Global. Other investors included Notation Capital, Homebrew and Charge Ventures.

Bison Trails’ blockchain infrastructure is designed to offer a way to launch secure, available and geographically distributed nodes on a participatory blockchain network, the press release notes. The Bison Trails platform enables a number of blockchain tools including staking, validating, voting, transacting and securing blockchain protocols.

? New Report Warns 87 Percent of Cryptocurrency Exchange Volume Is Potentially Suspicious

Almost 90 percent of cryptocurrency exchanges’ reported trade volumes may be incorrect, new research from trading analytics platform The Tie warned in a digest released on March 18.

Reporting on figures gathered from 97 exchanges, researchers found that the vast majority of the volume claimed to come from users may not in fact exist.

The revelations came as a result of calculations of lesser-known exchanges versus well-known businesses such as Binance and Kraken.

? Citi Has Scrapped Its Plan for a JPM Coin-Like Bank-Backed Cryptocurrency

In light of the splash JPMorgan made recently with its plan for a bank-backed cryptocurrency, it’s worth remembering another big institution first tested a token to connect global payments – back in 2015.

Codenamed “Citicoin,” the project out of Citigroup’s innovation lab in Dublin was never formally announced by the bank, even as a proof of concept. The idea was to streamline global payment processes. As such, there are obvious parallels with the much-vaunted JPM Coin.

However, having taken stock of the experiment (not to mention the scorn of the bitcoin community at that time) Citi concluded that, while the technology has the potential to live up to its promises, there were other more effective and efficient ways of making improvements in payments.

? Largest Swiss Online Retailer Digitec Galaxus Now Accepts Cryptocurrencies

Leading Swiss online retailer Digitec Galaxus has announced that it will now accept cryptocurrencies, according to a press release published on March 19.

Per the announcement, the shop is now accepting Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin SV (BSV), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC), Tron (TRX), NEO (NEO) and OmiseGO (OMG) for purchases worth over CHF 200 (about $200). The release further claims that the shop hosts around 2.7 million products, ranging from wheat beer to gaming PCs.

The new payment method was reportedly jointly developed as part of a pilot project with Swiss payment processor Datatrans and in collaboration with Danish crypto payments startup Coinify. The system opens 15-minute-time windows for customers, during which the crypto exchange rate doesn’t change in order to make the payment with a fee of 1.5 percent.

Nothing really new on the STEEM. We are staying really next than our support/resistance level in blue on the chart and the market is waiting for a Break Out to know the future direction for the STEEM. It is a similar pattern on all other cryptos but also on the master, the BTC. Let’s see which direction we will take in the coming days but at least, we had really a change of trend these last weeks but for sure we will have also some new corrections in a near future.

? Bitcoin’s Price and Network Activity: One is Outpacing the Other

Bitcoin’s user growth, as represented by active addresses, has spiked in the last eight weeks leaving the price far behind, a move that contradicts the popular belief the two tend to move in tandem.

The 30 day average of active addresses on bitcoin’s blockchain, or the number of accounts that made cryptocurrency transactions at any point during the last 24 hours, total 664,064 as of March 16– up 17 percent from 569,812 seen on Jan. 20. Bitcoin’s 30 day average price, however, has increased just 1 percent during the same time span, according to Coinmetrics.

Active Addresses vs. BTC/USD

Transaction Volume vs. BTC/USD

? When Bakkt? Bitcoin Futures Market’s Approval Appears Stuck in Limbo

Bakkt was first announced in early August as a bitcoin trading and custody platform, but its launch has been repeatedly delayed

It has submitted a proposal to the CFTC, asking for an exemption which would allow it to custody the bitcoin it uses to settle its futures contracts. While CFTC Commissioners were reportedly given the proposal in December, it now appears to be back before CFTC staffers.

It is unclear if or when the proposal may be published for a mandatory 30-day public review period.

Until the review period has ended – and CFTC Commissioners have voted to approve Bakkt’s exemption – the exchange cannot launch its one-day physically-settled futures contract.

? Coinbase Pro Increases Fees, Updates Market Structure ‘to Increase Liquidity’

Major United States-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced a new market structure for its professional trading platform, Coinbase Pro, in a blog post published on March 15.

Per the announcement, the changes aim to increase liquidity, enhance price discovery and ensure smoother price movements. The changes include a new fee structure, reportedly designed to increase liquidity, updated order maximums, new order increment sizes, the turning off of stop market orders and added market order protection points.

According to the post, Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime — the firm’s institutional trading platform — will cease their support for stop market orders. The announcement further explains that all stop orders must now be submitted as limit orders and include a limit price.

? How Ethereum Applications Earn A+ Security Ratings

More than 1.2 million ethereum applications have used a little-known security tool to help them avoid the costly errors arising from self-executing lines of code known as smart contracts.

Launched by ethereum technology startup Amberdata back in October, the free tool is available for anyone in the general public to interpret the security of active applications on the ethereum blockchain. Smart contracts with bugs that have been exploited have led to huge losses, even to the tune of hundreds of millions.

? Australia Announces National Blockchain Roadmap and Further Boost to Government Funding

Australia has unveiled a national blockchain strategy and roadmap, with a boost of AU$100,000 (~$71,200) in further funding from the federal government. The news was announced in a joint media release from two Australian ministries on March 18.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews and Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham have jointly stated that the new policy roadmap aims to make Australia’s nascent blockchain industry into a global leader.

The roadmap will encompass the development of blockchain “regulation, skills and capacity building, innovation, investment, and international competitiveness and collaboration.”

We are now upper than the resistance line which is now a support line. Again, we are staying very close of it so we need to be carefull because to my opinion, the direction is not yet validated and we could have also a sudden drop at any moment. We need to take some distance from that line with a UP or a DOWN. Let’s see which direction the market will choose.

Pretty sure most cryptocurrencies are overvalued…. Duh.

I have been looking at the crypto market these last few days which led me to the Weiss cryptocurrency report. Anyone that reads my blog knows that im not a fan of a fair number of cryptos. Most of them arent really STEEM competitors but i have a dislike for them due to numerous reasons.
As you can suspect STEEM is listed really high in most of the crypto rankings. (B- on Weiss).
While i agree that STEEM should be high on the list i dont agree with some of the other ratings, but thats not here nor there.

As time goes by, im starting to notice more and more the importance of measuring actual crypto performance in the world.
If you just glance at the Coinmarketcap page and the top tokens in market cap, and check them out, you will realize that most of them have really poor adoption. There are even those used by barely a hundred or so people daily. Dont even need to talk about those with no working product whatsoever.
What about the hundreds of “transaction tokens” or “Privacy coins”? Do we really need Dash, LTC, BCH, BCSV, MONERO, DOGECOIN, DOGECOIN DARK (called VERGE now), BITCOIN GOLD, ZCASH…
I personally dont give a crap if my transactions are private.

I care more about keeping my browser history private then my transactions and account balance.

Vitalik Buterin – 2017.

Some might care, which is fine, but do we need a 100 of these tokens that do essentially the exact same thing? I mean we arent talking here Dapp building platforms where individual blockchain characteristics are hugely important.
I dont care if i can send a private transaction with DASH 13.3 seconds faster then with, i dunno, MONERO. Makes 0 difference to me….
Which begs the question as to why arent we seeing most of these coins falling away into obscurity?

I say Drugs. No other explanation. haha. 😀

Ill see you around.

? A Blockchain to Connect All Blockchains, Cosmos Is Officially Live

Cosmos, a highly anticipated blockchain itself designed to improve the interoperability between any number of other blockchains, has officially released a live software.

With the mining of its first block at 23:00 UTC, the project has launched Cosmos Hub, the first in a series of proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchains that will be created in the Cosmos ecosystem.

At present, users of the network will not be able to swap tokens between blockchains or otherwise connect to Cosmos Hub with existing blockchain networks until validators officially vote to activate what is called the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.

? Strong Bitcoin Volumes Bode Well for Price Breakout

Bitcoin’s daily trading volume remains elevated at highs above $10 billion, going against the technical theory that investor interest tends to drop during periods of consolidation. Therefore, the ongoing sideways trading near $3,900 may end with a bull breakout toward the recent high of $4,20

Trading volumes have been strong since the corrective rally kicked off in early February, so a range breakdown looks unlikely.

Prices could first see a drop below $3,865 (March 12 low) due to the extended consolidation. That said, the short-term outlook would turn bearish only if the higher low of $3,743 created on March 3 is breached

? Decentralized or Nothing: Song Slams IBM Over Blockchain Hype at SXSW

More or less decentralized? For Jimmy Song, there’s no in between.

An author and partner at venture firm Blockchain Capital, Song made that point repeatedly in a debate with IBM engineer and Hyperledger Fabric co-lead Chris Ferris at SXSW Thursday, where he told the crowd at the Hilton Austin in no uncertain terms: “You either have control over your stuff or you don’t. It’s a zero or a one.”

The debate pitted permissioned blockchains – the private networks being pitched to big business – against permissionless blockchains – the technology undergirding bitcoin and other open-source networks. Billed as a “deathmatch” on the festival agenda, Song was determined to give the audience what they came for.

? CBOE Will Not List Bitcoin Futures in March, Cites Need to Assess Crypto Derivatives

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) will not add a new Bitcoin (BTC) futures market in March, the firm said in a statement on March 14.

Per the statement, CBOE is re-evaluating how it approaches trading digital assets. CBOE said:

“CFE is not adding a Cboe Bitcoin (USD) (“XBT”) futures contract for trading in March 2019. CFE is assessing its approach with respect to how it plans to continue to offer digital asset derivatives for trading. While it considers its next steps, CFE does not currently intend to list additional XBT futures contracts for trading.”

? French Court Clerks to Use IBM Blockchain Platform for Corporate Registry

French commercial court clerks will use a blockchain-based platform to record changes in companies’ legal status within the country. The development was revealed in an official announcement on March 14.

The blockchain network was jointly developed by IBM and the National Council of Clerks (NCC) and will reportedly be deployed starting in 2019 by the clerks operating in commercial courts across France. The blockchain platform is built on the Hyperledger Fabric framework and aims to increase transparency and efficiency in legal transactions associated with the lifecycle of companies in the registry.

As you can see, we broke the support line around 0.49$. However, look the last candles, these candles could be an indicator of reversal and if it is the case, we will go back quickly upper than the support line again. It is a possible scenario as we had many bearish traps these last week. The second scenario is a touch (pull back) on the support line before the continuation of the drop. Let’s see 😉

? Crypto Markets Are Trading Sideways, Bitcoin Holds $3,900 Support

The top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap are seeing mixed signals, with losses not exceeding 1.1 percent, while some coins have seen a growth of over 3 percent over 24 hours at press time.

? Thai SEC Approves Country’s First ICO Portal

Thailand’s securities regulator has approved the first initial coin offering (ICO) portal in the country,  local daily news outlet the Bangkok Post reported on March 12.

The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) board of directors has reportedly authorized the first ICO portal that allows to screen ICOs, perform due diligence, confirm smart contract source codes and conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures. The operator of the ICO portal is reportedly a foreign entity.

?SEC Chair Clayton Affirms Agency’s Stance Ether Is No Longer a Security

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s chairman has seconded a colleague’s analysis that found the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency likely does not qualify as a security.

Last year, SEC Director of Corporation Finance William Hinman said during a speech that ethereum, the No. 2 coin by market cap, did not exhibit the properties of a security. At the time, he explained that he did not see a central group as being responsible for the cryptocurrency.

Congressman Ted Budd – with industry advocacy group Coin Center – asked for clarification on whether SEC Chairman Jay Clayton agreed with Hinman’s remarks. The regulator has now responded by saying he agrees “that the analysis of whether a digital asset is offered or sold as a security is not static and does not strictly inhere to the instrument.”

? IBM Quietly Enters Crypto Custody Market With Tech Designed for Banks

IBM is coming to the crypto custody space.
Later this month, Shuttle Holdings, a New York investment firm, will launch the beta version of a custody solution for digital assets built on IBM’s private cloud and encryption technologies. The companies won’t be storing cryptocurrencies and tokens themselves, but offering tools for others to do so.

Potential users include banks, brokers, custodians, funds, family offices and high net worth investors who want to do self-custody, as well as exchanges, Brad Chun, Shuttle’s chief investment officer, told CoinDesk.

? Xena Launches Leveraged Contract for Yet to Be Released Telegram Token

The Telegram token (gram) has started trading as a perpetual contract on London-based Xena Exchange. On Mar. 12, the crypto exchange launched a derivative contract for grams, with up to 100x leverage. The Xena-listed perpetual contracts are publicly tradable and are intended to provide liquidity for the gram token ahead of its release later this year.

This is the next objective to reach in order to start again to do new highs. The STEEM is in a UP trend the last weeks and even if it is normal to have some corrections, it looks like the market is much more positive than back. Enjoy !

How big of a “crypto-fanatic” should you be?

Ever since i started branching out a bit towards Reddit and Twitter i got a chance to familiarize myself a bit more with folks that support other cryptocurrencies.
The first thing you notice is that people arent only invested in their crypto financially, but emotionally as well. Which you could say is expected.

And as we all know, when you mix emotion and money things can get nuclear (not pronounced “nukilar”) very fast. I mean all you need to do is take a look at industry leaders like Vitalik Buterin, Justin Sun, even Dan Larimer and the FUD they spread about each others projects.
What can you expect then from the regular Reddit/Twitter/Medium commenter?

Yeah….
Massive shillings and fuding of other projects they arent invested in. This is exactly why i say that crypto markets are stupid. Because folks can be so emotionally invested and attached to a project that they cant let go even if holding that token is objectively a really bad idea.

Ive even seen organized groups that are knowingly targeting competing projects and spreading lies and misinformation about them under the mantra:

They will do it to us if we dont do it to them.

Preemptive strike of sorts.

The thing about those kinds of campaigns is that they can often work, especially when a project with serious flaws (many of them) is targeted. Or a project with already diminished reputation.
I cant say i support that kind of behavior when the motives are malicious and the information that is being spread are blatant lies….. but…..
Because i believe that all cryptocurrencies are

1. In competition together against the current monetary establishment.
2. In competition with each other.

And because both is true, the only way to win the “BIG FIGHT” (monetary independence and freedom from governmental control) is to clear our ranks, lift up projects of worth and shoot down projects with no future.

What i mean is that if it helps us and if its justified, reaching for the name of our competition that based on objective parameters does not belong in the spot in MC they are right now, is i think fine. Not only is it fine, but it should be encouraged since such action leads to a healthier overall ecosystem.

I know it might not be “nice” but when youre in the wild west, you are either the guy that carries the gun or youre the guy the others make to dance.

So go out there and spread some FUD! hahaha
Do it for STEEM and the good of Crypto!

Ill see you around. 😀

Why is STEEM awareness so bad?

Last few weeks a number of folks started following the #steem hashtag on Twitter. I personally never used Twitter nor did i know how it works but i find myself using it much more these last few days. Mostly doing what you would call “trolling” and jumping on Steem misconceptions.
And you wouldnt believe how many of those there are.

STEEM, when mentioned in negative light is mentioned from two angles.

1. FUD – Folks mentioning it are EOS or TRON maximalists that dislike the competition so they carefully/mockingly pick their words to discredit the project. They realize that a project that has dapps that rival Ethereum dapps in users cannot stay unnoticed forever and they are threatened by that.

2. Ignorance – They are simply ignorant of the platform and are ignoring it due to some negativity they heard somewhere on some forum maybe. Maybe they remember Tone Vays spewing poison way back, maybe they dont remember last time they heard any publication write anything about STEEM. Could be many things. In cases like this its very important to educate folks.

If im being honest i am starting to see a bubble with many of these blockchains that fail to deliver anything of substance for a long time. Projects like ETC and LISK that are supposed to be dapp building platforms have neither the community nor anything created on them of note. There are a large number of platforms like that.
Crypto has had this problem of creating market powerhouses that dont have any value at the time of their listing. BTT is the latest example.
God knows what will come of that project, can TRON even sustain it and right now the token has no utility whatsoever, but has a market cap of $75 million.

There must come a tipping point where projects with actual utility, with a use case, with a community will get to the forefront and get their shot. This kind of speculation cannot go on forever.
For that very reason we need to step up and take charge spreading the word. Yes, become STEEM evangelists of sorts in any way we can. Dont get stuck on Steemit, dealing with Steemit crap, drama, politics, go out and spread the word.
Some folks will say be civil….. No…. Do not be civil when you hear someone attack your investment, fight with fact, but fight hard. There are livelihoods locked in STEEM, folks with kids, families, people from impoverished countries use STEEM… Constructive criticism is one thing, but when you hear someone FUD or lie or spread misinformation,

You need to take them down to the ground, John Cena style!

Lol. Anyways. Ill see you later guys.

STEEM Price Touched Our First Price Target – What Next?

Okay, if you have read listened to my price analysis of steem on the scaredy cat investor show over on MSPWaves, then you know the price points we were looking for on steem.
Steem once again charted well technically and we surpassed the first resistance at the 40-45 cent area to touch the first upside target.
Rebound Off The Target
I’ve noticed that when steem makes a push higher it tends to have that big upper wick bounce off the next upside target.  We are seeing it today so far.

Looking at the chart you can see we finally busted out of the lower
