? China’s National Crypto Similar to Libra, Central Bank Official Says

A top official at China’s central bank has confirmed that the country’s forthcoming digital currency will bear similarities to Facebook’s Libra token.

The English-language website of the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported the news on Sept. 6, citing prior coverage by Shanghai Securities News, which is owned by the official Chinese state-run Xinhua News Agency.
“We need to plan ahead for a rainy day”

Mu Changchun — deputy director of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC)’s payments department — has said that China’s digital currency will be supported across major e-payments platforms such as Tencent’s WeChat and Alibaba-backed Alipay.
The tokens will be guaranteed by the central bank and thus as secure as PBoC-issued paper notes and can be used without an internet connection, to ensure that transactions can continue even in the event that communications networks are down.

? Binance Launches Dollar-Backed Crypto Stablecoin With NYDFS Blessing

Crypto exchange Binance is launching a dollar-backed stablecoin in the U.S.

Moreover, the new Binance USD (BUSD) has received the blessing of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). The exchange announced Thursday that NYDFS had approved the new offering, which Binance is launching in partnership with the Paxos Trust Company.

The Binance stablecoin will be backed by U.S. dollars on a 1:1 ratio, according to a press release. The offering joins the Paxos Standard and the Gemini Dollar as an NYDFS-approved stablecoin.

At launch, verified Paxos customers will be able to directly purchase BUSD tokens through the company’s wallet using either U.S. dollars or PAX, its own stablecoin. Binance users will likewise be able to trade BUSD for bitcoin, binance coin or XRP.

? The State of Security Token Regulations in Asia

Since the cryptocurrency boom and initial coin offering craze of 2017, many countries in Asia have taken steps to clarify their regulations surrounding cryptocurrencies and security tokens.

In this article, we focus on the three countries that have the clearest regulations in place regarding digital assets, though there is still more work to be done.

? Blockchain, Cryptocurrency Not Proven Safe Havens Says Investor Mark Mobius

Mark Mobius, major investor and founding partner of Mobius Capital Partners, is still bearish on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology… with some caveats.

Speaking on CNBC’s The Squawk Box this morning concerning emerging markets and safe-haven asset classes, Mobius said cryptocurrencies, like fiat, are backed by faith and only hold utility as far as others are willing to use them.

“The bottom line is there is a whole generation of people who have faith in the internet, they have faith in these cryptocurrencies…the degree to which a cryptocurrency can enable you to buy something and you believe that to be the case, then that’s fine.”

Mobius said a gold-backed cryptocurrency run on the blockchain would be of interest, however. “If there is a cryptocurrency that is really backed by gold and there is a meaningful agreement and some kind of modern thing connection, then this could be quite interesting,” he said.

? Someone Just Moved $1B in Bitcoin for $700 Fee, Overpaying 20 Times

A $1 billion Bitcoin (BTC) transaction has become conspicuous not because of its size but because its sender spent far too much on fees.
Someone could have sent 94K BTC for $35

Social media users were guessing at the origin and destination of the funds on Sept. 6, which involved 94,504 BTC ($1.018 billion).

According to Twitter-based monitoring resource Whale Alert, the transaction did not involve known wallets or those belonging to a specific cryptocurrency-related organization, such as an exchange.
One theory suggested the funds may be tied to institutional trading platform Bakkt, which begins accepting client deposits today.
“Institutions

building inventory for their market-making needs going forward,” commented Max Keiser on the giant transaction. He added:
“This = effective ‘put’ on the BTC price at $9,000 (as I’ve been reporting for several yrs now). Ie, institutions are net-buyers of any BTC that shows up at $9k. Risk/reward now for buyers is excellent.”

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yersterday :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Here is the current chart :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Yesterday I was saying you that we need an increase of volume and volatility to break the support line at 0.18$. It happened only some hours after my article. The only negative point is that we are doing a pull back on this support line at 0.18$ but we already broke back the support. It is not a drama as this kind of pullback is not always precise but we must see in the coming hours a bounce from the levels at 0.18$ and see a UP continuation to validate this nice movement. If it is not the case, I’m afraid that this UP would have just been a pump and dump…

? UN Official: Crypto Makes Policing Child Trafficking ‘Exceptionally Difficult’

A top United Nations (UN) official said cryptocurrencies are making international efforts to combat terrorist financing, money laundering and cyber-crime “exceptionally difficult.”

Neil Walsh, chief of the Cybercrime and Anti-Money Laundering arm of the UN’s Office on Drugs and Crime, said that the anonymizing and pseudo-anonymizing attributes of cryptocurrencies provide a “new layer of secrecy that favors the criminals,” when speaking to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Linda Mottram.

Specifically, Walsh raised concerns about the role cryptocurrencies play in the clandestine child trafficking industry.

“In the past, when we looked at some of the really big high-threat areas like kids getting abused online, it had to be paid for and now, with the use of cryptocurrencies, it’s exceptionally difficult for investigators to track that and try and manage that risk down,” Walsh said.

? Bitcoin Short of Bull Target Despite Five Days of Price Gains

View

Bitcoin’s five-day winning run, the longest in a month, has neutralized the short-term bearish view. A UTC close above the lower high of $10,956 created on Aug. 20 is needed for a bullish revival.

Volumes picked up on Tuesday, adding credence to Monday’s triangle breakout on the daily chart. So, a rise to $10,956 may be on the cards.

The probability of a move above $10,956 would weaken if the prices drop below key the crucial support at $10,286 on the hourly chart. Acceptance below that level could yield a deeper drop into four figures.

? China’s Crypto Competitor Is Being Built in a Secret Office with Restricted Access

The People’s Bank of China (PBoC) is charging full speed ahead with its digital currency plans, hoping to beat Facebook’s Libra to market.

A dedicated team from the central bank’s Digital Currency Research Lab is now developing the system in a closed-door environment, away from the PBoC’s downtown Beijing headquarters, a person close to the bank told CoinDesk.

The team has been working in this separate location since early summer so they could fully concentrate on the project, this person said.

The work has been expedited as Facebook unveiled in June its vision for Libra, a global cryptocurrency to facilitate payments, the source added.

? Square, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey: Bitcoin ‘Not Functional as a Currency’

Square and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has said Bitcoin (BTC) will continue to be adopted more widely, but it is still too early to consider it a currency.

Make Bitcoin more usable and accessible as a currency

On Sept. 4, the outspoken Bitcoin advocate told the Australian Financial Review that he is convinced the No.

1 cryptocurrency will continue to be adopted more widely. However, Dorsey added:

“It’s not functional as a currency. The peaks and troughs are like an investment asset and are equivalent to gold. What we need to do is make it more usable and accessible as a currency, but it’s not there yet.”

? Foundation Uses Blockchain and Crypto to Help Save the Brazilian Amazon

Rainforest Foundation US is a New York-based, non-profit NGO working in Central and South America, which is now hoping to support anti-deforestation efforts with crypto and blockchain tech.

Deforestation and fires in the Brazilian Amazon

On Sept. 4, the Rainforest Foundation reached out to the crypto and blockchain community to ask for their support to fight against deforestation and forest fires in Brazil. The post on the foundation’s website states:

“Since Bolsonaro took office in January, deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon is up 75% and forest fires in the Brazilian Amazon have doubled compared to the past year. As guardians of our rainforests, its animals and its people, we are working with The Giving Block to form a coalition of crypto sponsors, donors and media partners who will help stop this devastation.”

The Rainforest Foundation says that it is accepting cryptocurrency donations in Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and other cryptocurrencies.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yersterday :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Here is the current chart :

STEEMUSD.jpg

The STEEM has still difficulties to progress, even during the UP of the BTC. We are slowly progressing towards the resistance line at 0.18$. If we don’t have an increase of volume and volatility, we have no chanc at all to break this resistance line and we have a high risk of rejection during the test of this line. Let’s see if we will start to see more volume on the STEEM because currently is really low and without any volatility.

Somewhere in the middle would be just fine

Maybe we still need some time in order to obtain the “real” consequences regarding the implementation of the new economical rules at the steem blockchain but I am sure we can get some facts already regarding the famous new Rewarding Curve.

For the ones that still don’t understand how it supposedly works I would say them that, essentially, any post not upvoted massively by a whale or a cluster of orcas , and so, not reaching the 20 STEEM it is going to suffer a huge reduction on its gains, usually between -25% and -50% but most likely closer to the second threshold.

At the current price of STEEM, 20 Steem threshold means around 3.5 USD or $ or whatever the STU equivalent number.

The current setup of this algorithm is clearly benefiting the Big stakers, because, who has 3.5 USD of voting power? do your own calculations but @dalz did wrote a good post about it here and just by using Steemnow from @penguinpablo you can see that you would need at least 290K SP to reach it (or the sum of the compounded upvoters of the post).

The funny thing is that, due to the STEEM price, it is now the best moment to accumulate as much as possible and build your SP, not only by buying but also by getting the most from your posts, in terms of STEEM…and who is getting more now? The already big accounts that in some cases were already big when STEEMIT did wrote its one and only post, more than 3 years ago…and they keep selling…

The theory is that, if this curve acts as a motivator trigger for investors, willing to get a good APR by curating content, then the price of the STEEM token should rise…in theory, of course…

Because what is lacking here is a HUGE work on the marketing side. Investors will not come if we keep being invisible for them, and price will not stop falling till sellers as STEEMIT INC an others big whales will stop selling like there is no tomorrow.

Now that I have finished my rant here, and coming back to the “rewarding Curve” algo, a question for witnesses and Steem Blockchain developers:

We have downvotes to penalize bad content, this is good for everybody in my opinion so you can somehow express your disagreement and also provide an economical impact on bad behaviors…

Are you planning to smooth somehow the rewarding curve?

Would you consider to set the GAIN/LOSS threshold at a lower but more “human” and community supportive level?

20 STEEM is sometimes unreachable even if you are a good content creator because you have to be discovered by those big accounts, with not so many time for curating work… I hope, eventually, they will also change their approach, dedicating more time reading content and less time selling votes but till then, what about smoothing the curve to, let’s say 10 STEEM…?

We have to find the middle point of the two extremities here, nor “zero” neither 20 STEEM threshold.

Virtue is at the middle!!!!

Alternatives to improve the low rewards

6509 SP and increasing, this is the value of my account in STEEM POWER while in USD it is about 1280$ according to Steempeak.

I would not say that this amount of STEEM POWER is low… I am a consolidated and a proud DOLPHIN who has been working hard and investing in the worst time ever to do so and still doing it.

However my rewards today are almost half those of seven days ago…due to the NOT-SO-FAIR-AT-ALL Non-linear Rewards curve…

I have read that, right now, it is almost impossible to get rewarded by upvoting comments… and also that Bid-bots use are really required if you want to earn “anything” from your Hard-work…

Read this post written by the wizard @steemchiller , dev and owner of STEEMWORLD:

https://steemit.com/steemworld/@steemchiller/steemworld-update-managing-the-after-fork-effects

O maybe you are interested on reading this one from @blockchainstudio , who is another outstanding dev you must follow:

https://steemit.com/deathofpob/@blockchainstudio/convergent-linear-encourage-using-voting-bot

Before HF21, I personally was not a fun of maximizing my earnings nor by upvoting “succulent” comments neither by using Bid-bots and, of course, they are not in my present or future plans.

My plan is to continue working, engaging and searching for opportunities of building my STEEM POWER. I am buying again short amounts of STEEM, mainly using BITVAVO and I am planning to power-up some tomorrow, following the traditional SPUD5 day (STEEM POWER UP DAY) set by @streetstyle. By the way, if you want to try out BITVAVO and you want to help me growth my account, here you have my referral, https://bitvavo.com/?a=C658B92169 .

One alternative that I am using lately in order to mitigate a little the reduction of my rewards is @drugwars , I am playing this game once a day and it is currently providing me a relief in DWD (DrugWars Dollars) which is an Steem-engine token currently worth 0.03 Steem/token at the named market. If you play well you can earn a lot of DWD and so STEEM.

(I have a referral also for @drugwars , let me know at comments if you are interested on trying out the game and I will help you building your “empire” by giving you some good resources)

Then, I am always doing an “audit” of my STEEM-ENGINE Wallet, on a weekly basis.

I usually stake half of the tokens of those TRIBES that I am interested on, i.e LEO, PAL, SPORTS, PHOTO… with the rest I simply sell them.

This evening has been “harvesting” Time for me at the Steem-Engine market and I get 43 STEEMP in just one week:

As you can see, there are always options for growing your account, now it is just a question of changing a little bit your habits till now as a consequence of the #newsteem rules…which, by the way, I hope will be better balanced in the near future by another adjusting Hardfork, specially regarding what I think is an UNFAIR new rewarding curve.

@toofasteddie

Don’t give up…

The picture above is self-explanatory of what I want to tell you.

Today I have read more posts complaining about the #newsteem as a consequence of the HF21 deployment.

Yes, it is a fact we have got a reduction on our post rewards but It does not seem to have been the case regarding curation rewards which, according to what I see in the estimations of Steemworld, will be more than double the curation rewards of exactly 7 days ago:

Here the 7 day estimation:

2 days ago my curation rewards were estimated around 8 SP per week but now I can start noticing that they have increased 1.55 SP.

If I run the estimative function at the same tool I get the following “prediction”:

That’s more than doubling my weekly curation!

I know it is still so early to get a realistic estimation about it. I have noticed as well that also the amazing Steemworld is struggling from time while calculating the data. The blockchain has to stabilize and it will take some time and maybe some more changes will come as for today, we know that devs and witnesses have deployed another version of the code, so called HF22 for fixing some potential security bugs.

Sadly what I clearly see in my FEED today is a substantial reduction of new posts created by the people I follow…

Maybe all these changes are/were necessary…or maybe not

Perhaps the economic changes will only benefit the bigger stakers…

Maybe simply it was not the best day to implement such a radical changes…with such a low behavior of STEEM at the market

Maybe, maybe…maybe…

I don’t know you but I am not going quit so easily…

I hope all of you will keep enjoying of this, “our Blockchain” even if you struggle now…Please, keep working, posting and engaging…I also have the firm conviction that we will succeed in the long run…if we get focused more on the marketing side…

@toofasteddie

First day at the Office: Bougth 300 STEEM at BITVAVO and…

…drank a couple of beers during lunchtime, just to avoid a drastic change on my psychological integrity ;-)…

By the way, I have to say and certify that Bitvavo works excellently.

The process of signing, verifying, transfering FIAT and buying STEEM have been done very fast and without problem.

Also, as I wrote in the title, I have spent 50 Euros, transferred directly from my Bank Account via SEPA, buying 301 STEEM this morning…

The fee has been minuscule (0.13 Euro) in my opinion, 0.25% which is peanuts!

If you are an EU resident and you want to buy or sell STEEM without having to buy first BTC or ETH or even use the Blocktrades conversions, you should try BITVAVO .

These 300 STEEM are planned to be powered up in my account but, since I expect to have some nice movements in the price of STEEM these days due to the HF21, which is coming tomorrow, for the moment, I am going to keep them at BITVAVO, just in case I can take some advantage :-)…

I am puting my referral and @soyrosa ‘s referrals below so we can get a portion in your trading fees, which, as I said, they are very tiny… @soyrosa wrote a post a few days ago informing about “The easiest way to buy STEEM directly in Europe – no more crypto conversions needed!” so, I would like to thank her about the discovery.

? After Switzerland Visit, Crypto Concerns Remain for US Regulators

Following a visit to Switzerland to meet with the country’s financial regulators, United States lawmakers are still concerned over Facebook’s proposed cryptocurrency project, Libra.

Meetings with multiple agencies

According to an official statement from Representative Maxine Waters published on Aug. 25, members of the U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee met with multiple regulatory agencies and lawmakers. These included the State Secretariat for International Financial Matters, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner and the Financial Market Supervisory Authority.

As announced earlier this month, the representatives aimed to clarify how various Swiss authorities would regulate Libra and learn more about the status and magnitude of the project. Despite being helpful, Waters said of the meetings:

? The Faketoshi Circus: Even Bitcoin Can’t Escape the Politics of Money

In case you missed it, a new self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto came out of the woodwork last week, this one brandishing a “proof” based on numerology and an obsession with BCCI, the scandal-ridden bank that collapsed in 1991.

The widely debunked “reveal” from Bilal Khalid, aka James Caan – Khalid officially changed his name to that of the American actor – followed a host of equally absurd developments in a Florida court case against the other “Faketoshi,” Craig S. Wright. These included a hand-written note to the judge in which yet another person, one Debo Jurgen Etienne Guido, also laid claim to being bitcoin’s secret progenitor.

Sensible minds in the crypto community remind us that this is all a sideshow, that these competing claims to bitcoin’s creation ultimately mean nothing to its value proposition.

? Burning Man & Crypto: Common Grounds

It is a truth universally acknowledged that crypto aficionados love Burning Man.

Both the long-running festival in the Nevada desert and the bitcoin ethos revolve around openness to exploring new governance models with fewer rules.

Take me, for instance. I still have the colorful Burning Man ticket from 2010, when, like so many future bitcoiners, I went to camp in Black Rock City for a week in late August. Back then, I showed up with little more than a tent, a bikini and a Costco-sized bag of marshmallows to barter for supplies. There were no rules about how to trade these treats or attire myself, so in the free market of campgrounds I did quite well.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BaXnvtIFgar/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

? Binance hack victims set to receive lifetime VIP memberships

Hackers have taken a toll on Binance.

In May, the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange by volume suffered a hack that saw roughly $40 million of its reserve funds disappearing into thin air.

Then, just earlier this month, the company became the subject of a blackmailing and extortion attempt from a hacker who allegedly gained access to several users’ photo IDs originally used for KYC purposes. The hacker demanded a bitcoin ransom in exchange for the photos remaining safe and unseen.

As a result, Binance today announced that the investigation into this latest breach remains ongoing. And that while the company maintains that many of the images are photoshopped or altered in some way, it now admits that some of the pictures correspond with those that it sent to a third party, which Binance contracted over a period of two months.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yersterday :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Here is the current chart :

STEEMUSD.jpg

Today, we had an important UP in the direction of the 0.21$ resistance line. The rejection was quiet big as we can see that on the same candle, we almost touched that level to go directly lower after. Most of the time this kind of candle is a very bearish signal but let’s see what will happen in the coming hours. If the BTC is going to make a nice UP, I expect that we test quickly again that resistance line. In case of correction on the BTC, this will validate the bearish candle pattern.

STEEM is rising…

I wonder why…

But just by having a look at the @steemit account and its “operational” withdrawing account , aka @gsr-io, at Steemworld I think I get reason why.

@steemit haven’t stopped powering down… actually is transferring a big amount of liquid steem to @gsr-io , as usual, very regularly which is currently “storing” around 600000 Liquid Steem but…

You know what?

The last withdrawing operation straight to the exchanges from that account, @gsr-io , was placed on August the 12th…

No more transfers since then, and this is a great NEW because the frequency of these operations were set at least on a weekly basis if not in less time…

Consequences? Selling pressure is relaxing, people is buying maybe because Hardfork21 is approaching and that could create some expectatives…but the most important is that they stop selling…for the moment, remember that there are around 600000 Steem at the “Launching” account and around 2M Liquid Steem more ready to be transferred…

I hope they will keep for some days more the selling pressure low…however, they are not fools at all…

Sellers have to sell…

@toofasteddie

Is STEEM preparing to Bounce Strongly ? ???

As I wrote in this post a few weeks ago when I digged into HF21, I believe this will be very positive for the STEEM price in the Medium Term.

Now that we have different tokens (thanks to Steem-Engine and soon to SMTs). The ecosystem is flourishing quickly through the many dapps that you all use daily.

With this new HF21, stakeholders (therefore investors) might play a bigger role curating and harvesting more value of the STEEM Blockchain. In order to do so, they will have to increase their SP Holdings (which we are seeing during the past 2 days).

STEEM Price is performing very well ahead of HF21

I read daily very carefully @penguinpablo reports. In the past days, we have seen Steemians STAKING more than they were Unstaking ! Yes, you read that right.

This has not been the case for a long, long time and I believe considering the current price of STEEM outperforming the Crypto Market, a few more days like this and we could get into a STEEM Frenzy again.

Steemians and Investors have been powering up in the past 2 days

I have been buying STEEM in the past months and will try to do so before HF21.

Active Steemians Writers are also staking

I came accross this post from a fellow Steemian @toofasteddie: https://steemit.com/newsteem/@toofasteddie/harvestingtime-7yr6gb5xmq

In this post, he is explaining why he sells its STEEM Alts to Buy more STEEM before the upcoming HF.

I think, to make STEEM price continue on this trend, we just need a few hundreds of Steemians, before outsiders see the move and amplify it !

Stay Put, Kepp Building and Kepp Buying STEEM !

Harvesting Time

Finally I’m back from holidays trip.

I am spending the whole morning setting up and updating my Steem account everywhere, Steem-Engine, @actifit , @drugwars , @steempeak … I realized I have a serious amount of S-E Tokens accumulated at the Steem-Engine Wallet which is amazing but, man, we are at just 4 days from the HF21 date and here what we need is to ACCUMULATE as much SP as possible, just preventing what will happen after its deployment.

To do so, and following the exercise done previously by @ervin-lemark here , I am harvesting all the S-E tokens that I am not considering for the Long Run and staking others I think can do well in the near future, in particular, I am staking mostly the rewards of PALNET, LEO, SPORTS, PHOTO and, possibly LIFESTYLE …

This is how my Steem-Engine Wallet looks like now:

Regarding @actifit AFITX tokens, here I am a little bit in doubt…. I don’t like the way they set up this trade, I think @actifit is pushing so hard to the users by maintaining a crazy competition in order to be a top25 AFITX holder and getting so the right of having upvoted earlier…so I am going to “short” a little more my AFITX stake, selling at a better price than the price on which I purchased them.

All the rest of S-E tokens are going to be exchanged for STEEMP and then POWER UP just to increase my SP amount before HF21… then will see how much I am being able to achieve here.

After “Harvesting” and “Exchanging”:

58 STEEM have been “harvested” after 20 minutes of trade!

Now, the process is very simple, I am going to withdraw them and POWER UP all of them!!!!

Opportunities are everywhere, you just have to see them.

Believe me, the STEEM Blockchain is the place where you have to search them.

Get prepared for the #newsteem time!

@toofasteddie
