STEEM front-ends should allow users to post without a STEEM account.

This is a very straight forward idea and it is how you fix the big on-boarding problem STEEM has right now. It wouldnt completely fix it, but it would do a lot to alleviate the problem.

There are a few obvious things to point out first.

  1. People like to test out services/produts first before spending money on them.
  2. People will rather not pay for something if they dont have to.

This idea plays on those two things. When someone hears about STEEM and the fact that you can earn money here the curiosity gets them and they come to check it out.
Then that person tries to make an account for free, because not everyone will be willing to pay for something they havent tested out. And what do you know, it takes 2 damn weeks to get a free account by which time you forgot all about STEEM, your curiosity was peaked by something else and you dont care much anymore.

A potential user is lost.

Heres how you keep the person interested and wanting more to the point that he would wait for those 2 weeks or even buy an account from @steem.ninja :

You allow for guest accounts on STEEM front ends. @steemit, @steempeak, @busy, @dtube…. etc.
You let folks log in through their emails.
What this does is two things:

  1. It lets the interested guest user be engaged with the community.
  2. It lets him/her test out the platform for free.

This is good for STEEM for a bunch of reasons. It can increase adoption, it increases engagement, STEEMs internet footprint and it most definitely would affect the Alexa rating in a positive way.

The guest user this way would be able to engage with the community and test out the platform. See what its all about. It would allow for the community to “tempt” the guest user through directly interacting with him/her and even if the person decides not to buy an account right away, the time till the free account lands in their email wouldnt have to be filled up only with waiting.
And thats the big advantage here.

But lets take it further!

After setting up the above option the front ends could continue adding features to it. Example:

Create an escrow account that would hold all upvotes collected by guest users. Do they want their earned $$$?
They have to make an account! Tell me a better way of encouraging someone to make an account then dangling a bag of coins in front of their face.

You would add restrictions ofc. Stuff like: No posts, limited number of comments, post author can delete the comments at will, comments would be written to the blockchain… etc.

Let me know what you think…. Is this a good idea or a great idea? 😀

@ned, make it happen!

Is it time yet to slap back?

Before i start this post i have to say that im fully aware that STEEM has its problems. Most of them stem from the fact that people are selfish, greedy and self-absorbed.
I for one do not subscribe to the vapid ramblings of people that say:

People are acting selfishly because the incentives are broken!

The incentives could indeed be broken, but the reason people are acting shitty is because they are shitty people. There is no capitalism god come from heaven that can justify selfish, vindictive, self-absorbed, greedy behavior.
And of course that kind of behavior hurts the distribution which leads to STEEM suffering, the community suffering and the price suffering.
That is all well and fine…..

But lets put that behind us for one second. Thats our crap to deal with. Our dirty laundry.

Just because STEEM isnt perfect doesnt mean that it isnt a great place to be. I know that, you know that, but people out there dont know any of it…
Because we focus our attention inwards. We focus on our own petty little shit. We dont reach out..
I mean sure.. We can have our fun. Laugh at the morons flagging and spamming each other, repeating the same discussions over and over again, we can share a drama token or two, talk about how we should all get along…
All of that is lovely and great…

But while that is happening Justin Sun is on Twitter talking trash about Vitalik, saying how he will build him a monument once TRON surpasses ETH and getting millions of followers doing so.
Spamming Twitter with bullshit stats containing TRON gambling game transaction spam and claiming “mass adoption”. You have privacy tokens at each others throats over which privacy token should be the next big thing (spoiler: none of them), You have BTC-BCH debates going on…. EOS hype plastered where ever you look….

And what are we doing? We are being mellow, shy, hugsy… We have been slapped around and disrespected so much that we forgot how to dish it out ourselves. When was the last time anyone wrote about STEEM in any publication?

Ill tell you… The time those hackers got banned from STEEMIT. Thats when you heard about this blockchain. When the opportunity came about to shit on STEEM. From the bastard Tone Vays to the spokeperson for Everpedia/EOS and crypto publications all shitting on STEEM, at this point im starting to feel like we are like the battered wife of blockchain that keeps quiet not to get hit again.

Nah, its time to nut the fuck up, or shut the fuck up.

Time to flip off the Dogecoin Darks, the Ethereum Classics, the Bitcoin Diamonds, the Lisks, the Bitcoin golds of the crypto sphere.

The only way to attract investors and users here during a bear market is by contrasting STEEM to what is out there!

CONTRAST!

By showing what we do better then all other projects..

Go flood Twitter FFS… Thats the least you can do. Reddit doesnt allow for that much of freedom.

Ill see you around..That was fun to write haha.

Did you have your hissy fit for the day?

Lately i have been seeing a worrying trend. I dont know if the trend is fueled by the abundance of time on peoples hands, too much sugar in the bloodstream or is it due to a chronic lack of sex.
Maybe its all those things combined.

But folks have been on the edge lately. Drama tokens filling up the comment sections and “Gotcha!” posts calling people out.

Folks being certain in the justification of their actions.
Some climbing the pedestal of martyrdom.
Ready to “die” for the cause. Signaling their virtue where ever they can.
Some being annoying and spamming all day long.

Did you see what He/She/It did today!?! Did you know that He/She/It spams a thousand times a day!?!? Did ya know He/She/It likes this other He/is/Shit i dont like!?! Did ya know that your He/she/It is much worse then mine?!?!

Was it really this bad before? Maybe i didnt notice it this much since i cant say i knew how STEEM and relationships here worked, but now that the novelty of blockchain for me is wearing off due to being here more then a year, i cant miss it.

Especially since its always the same people doing the same thing over and over again.
If youre here long enough, you start to notice this group of loud mouths thats always involved in some bullshit. Always on some sort of crusade, chasing a cause, fighting something or someone for some reason… Its always the same people. lol
You dont see the classical music community, or the Fantasy football community making headlines here with their drama, do you?.

Its always the same outrage peddlers seeking attention for the worse of reasons fueling it all even more just so they can have something to write about..

Im not saying that there arent things to be outraged about or things that should be written about but at some point repeating the same thing over and over again has to get old. Not only that but it extends the shit that is happening indefinitely.

To end this post off with a solution for all the frustrated mofos running around. I have a cure for you… Its an age old remedy used since the days of Ancient Rome… Cures frustration, moodiness, stress, agitation and even bunions!

Povezana slika

Have fun! And see you all when you are better. 😉

And there you go folks, SMTs pushed back // Again… again..again…again…again…again..again..

We are definitely trying to get back to SMTs as fast as possible. It’s not at all true that we are giving up on that project. The fact of the matter is that our work on MIRA is just more important now, and it’s not possible to know exactly how long that work will take. It could be a week, it could be a month, we just don’t know and aren’t willing to pretend we do. Once we’re done with MIRA, SMTs is high up on the to-do list.

Andrarchy comment earlier today.

My initial reaction…

But then i remembered that this was Steemit.inc and that they made me a wallet app. Wallet app ill probably never use, that looks the same as their built in whatever but with another font!

I can see it now.

Ned calling up a meeting, PowerPoint presentation ready, wearing his khaki pants, starting a discussion over picking Ariel or Times New Roman for the wallet app.

I cant get this damn projector remote to work Andrarchy! WE WILL DO IT LIVE, WE’LL DO IT LIIIIIIVE!

Will we ever actually see these mythical creatures called SMTs?

I say just hope for a overall market boost and that we manage to maintain inside top 40. Currently being 38th, i cant remember the last time we were this high.

Ill see you around. Keep on!

Why wont Ned separate the trending page in two?

There have been hundreds of discussions about bots and a broken trending page but after all the talk about incentives, moral corruption, greed what im left asking is:

Why not just separate the promoted content from the organically voted content? Or dont seperate anything. Simply create a organic trending page and leave the current one as is.

Would it really be that hard creating a filter for the various bots that exist? The vast majority is already listed on “steembottracker.com”. You can probably even filter out upvote selling services by following memos.

An upgrade to the system that could follow could be adding “views” to the content listing algo in a smaller percentage adjusted by how fast the user base grows.

Is this really that difficult to pull of?

Who loses from a change like that? Did you take anything away from anyone?

No.

Im fully aware that there are some morally corrupt individuals on this blockchain and that those people would try to abuse the system. But with such a system in place it would be incredibly easy to find those individuals that would act in such a manner.

Steemit isnt Steem. You have freedom @ned to change certain things.

Keep on Steeming.

ScaredyCatGuide to Being Ambitiously Lazy

The title kind of seems like an oxymoron. How can someone be both ambitious and lazy, wouldn’t one effectively cancel out the other?

Let me ask you something:

Do you consider yourself ambitious?
Do you consider yourself a hard worker?

Do those the two terms go hand and hand?
I contend they do not!

Ambitiously Lazy
Most people consider me ambitious, they also consider me to be a hard worker. They have this idea that I’m hustling all the time because I have the ambition to pursue multiple things.
This may have been true in my twenties, but in my late thirties – not so much!
“I’m too old

BREAKING: Steem up 78% since @steemit full power down.

The market doesn’t lie folks. And it is speaking. Steem is trading up on a few catalyst but most of the talk is about the deposit/withdrawals and arbitrage opportunity on Bithumb. I am not completely a believer of this scenario. The power down of @steemit started at the EXACT same time and the market continued to RIP up on this news. 7 straight days up in the air topping out at recently $0.44.

Both of these are GREAT NEWS, and I believe the latter is even better. Stinc has continued to FAIL it’s users and it is time for the WITNESSES

Steem showing Positive Divergences #crypto #cryptocurrency #blockchain

Ever since the announcement that @steemit was powering down and Bithumb was going to open up Steem accounts, the price of steem has been ripping higher. Now it is over 70+% from the bottom and currently trading higher than $0.40.

Looking at the charts, steem is one of the only cryptocurrencies that is currently trending higher over this duration. Many of the others were going sideways and are not selling off. Steem is not. This is called RELATIVE STRENGTH. This is what you want to be seeing, assets bucking the trend and moving positively. This may mean nothing because None can

@Steemit is Powering Down…Everything…Longterm GREAT THING $STEEM #crypto

Well folks, I believe the time of Make it or Break It may not be upon us in the Steem ecosystem. @Steemit has decided to start its’ power down of 34 Million Steem Power as you can see below.

They then send a memo to say they are moving the Steem to “secure wallets”. I call absolute bullshit on this reasoning. They are powering down to pay for the company and expenses, and likely also for some more research and expenditures. I presently have some mixed feelings about this situation…
Normally when The Majority stake holder starts selling LARGE amounts (it is
